Let’s make it rain, shall we?

My lawn is parched, my quinces are shrivelling and my tomatoes are tiny. None of this is in any way desirable.

Let me invite you all for a little rain dance tomorrow at midday.

All welcome. Play your favourite rain songs and dance along.

You can dance clothed, in your pyjamas, in your underwear or you know, you get the idea!

In your bathroom, in your kitchen or anywhere you feel like it. Maybe even in what’s left of your garden?

On your own, with the dog or maybe you can trick the cat to join, with a young child or holding your cup of tea, or just bop along in your armchair.

Play your music loudly or use your headphones, I don’t mind.

Here is my list - Adventures of Raindance Maggie, Prayers for rain - The Cure and Why does it always rain on me.

Your lists may vary.

Let’s do this!

ParchedCucumber · 08/08/2026 18:17

You can still enjoy it after the rain

I made it rain for about five minutes the other day by hanging my tent and sleeping bag out on the line to air, I could try doing it again and see if it works Grin

hexsnidgett · 08/08/2026 18:24

What good weather?

BoarBrush · 08/08/2026 18:34

Want me to shave my legs? That's guaranteed to make it rain, every fecking time!

I wouldn't mind if it rained during the night, but by feck have we had some rain the last two weeks during the day. I'd rather keep summer for longer, I'm feeling pale already!

I appreciate the sacrifice! Yes please!

Ha I would but honestly it feels like autumn and I'll freeze to death if I get rid of my extra thermal layer 😂

You can save it and knit some leg warmers?

It's a shame you haven't had more interest op.

I would love to see some better weather, an end to the miserable heat and some rain for farmers and wildlife.

ParchedCucumber · 08/08/2026 21:40

I know!

I’d love to see some rain,

Thanks!

Is it still hot down there?

Pishin down here and I’ve got my heating on and under a blanket. West coast Scotland. Been cold all week.

thinkpadmad · 08/08/2026 21:45

We’ve had rain this week on several occasions!

It is.

It’s dry, it’s really worrying.

Perfect!

Just do a few dance moves and play a rain song!

I work on a care farm (working farm but where people with LD and MH issues come and we therapise as we work). We have spent so much time and effort growing our fruit, veg and Crops only for them all to be shrivelling up. And what isn’t dying is being eaten by marauding badgers who are starving as there are no worms coming to the surface for them to eat. All the animals are eating their winter food now, because there is no grass to be had. We are a not for profit so this hits us pretty hard.

We are actually planning on doing a group rain dance in the Orchard on Monday-(we are desperate and It’s been a nice creative project for the Co farmers) You are all free to come and join us!

Seeingadistance · 08/08/2026 22:08

I wish I could send you some of the rain we've been having in my part of Scotland the past week or so. We have an over-abundance of it!

ParchedCucumber · 08/08/2026 22:35

Yeah.
