Could I have mattress recommendations please?

I feel like most people prefer a firmer mattress but I’m experiencing some problems with mine. For the past 8 years I have slept on the mattress that my partner had when I moved in, it was comfortable and I didn’t have any problems with it but we needed to get a new one. I have chronic back pain but haven’t actually suffered with it for quite a few years now. I had no idea what kind of mattress to get but could see everywhere said to get firm or medium/firm to help back problems. I did that and since then I have been in agony with my back. I dread bed time!

The medium-firm is too hard for me. Does anyone here have a softer mattress that is still supportive and doesn’t cause problems? I don’t need to be able to sink into the mattress but I still would like a nice soft cozy feel whilst not messing up my back. I sleep mostly on my front and occasionally my side if that makes a difference

I’ve got a valevag one from ikea that sounds like it should fit the bill

Do Not buy a Simba, we treated ourselves to one in March and after loads of research seized on Simba it’s so soft and squishy not the firm they stated!

It depends on your budget. I have an igel nanotech from bensons for beds. It is the most comfortable thing I have ever slept on.

I had a Nectar memory foam one and hated it. Decided to go for a good old fashioned sprung one and it’s a revelation.

Bought a medium firm Hypnos one but I believe they do softer ones and it’s amazing. No more back or hip pain and I’m a front / side sleeper too.

I did try it out in a showroom first though. That’s made all the difference as you could blind-buy one online which says it’s soft and it feels wrong. Definitely try a few out. I eventually bought one online after trying it in RL from ‘mattressnextday.com.’ It’s a lie as it took much longer than next day but got the one I wanted for a very good price.
