Anyone else had this type of bug over the summer?

Has anyone else had a viral infection this summer that's causing a bit of stomach cramping, diarrhoea in some, glands up, sore throat, high temperature for up to a fortnight or three weeks on and off and flushing in the face. I know those symptoms can be anything but wondered if there's something obvious doing the rounds, I'm in surrey uk.

We have had that here and I appear to be the last but I'm the only one with a glowing flushed face and because I'm now menopausal I am not sure which is which (though I don't usually have hot flushes or flushed skin). Also felt quite faint today which is really unusual for me, but I hear that can be part of a hot flush and maybe I'm developing them (but it's not usual for me at all and I'm on hrt).

The flushed face sounds like slapped cheek (fifth disease).

Yes we had it in our house for a few weeks, right in the midst of the really hot weather. I felt lousy, I had a headache too.

Thought it was Covid and kept going round commenting on how hot it was (in our air conditioned office).

Hope you feel better soon. 💐

Yes I had all that about a fortnight ago but it was only really bad for about 3 days and then I was like a wrung out dish rag for another three or four days.

We had an awful cold in our house - sore throats, headaches, sweats and coughing. Lasted about 10 days each and the cough still hasn’t gone 😩

sounds like covid. Hope you feel better soon.

Yes, my 11 year old had it with all the same symptoms you describe. The rest of us escaped it.

JengaCupboard · 06/08/2026 11:22

Yes! It was like symptom of the day for about a week - sore throat, headache, body aches, disgusting congestion, and now a cough that just won't go - this weekend will be 4 weeks!! Although I am the only one in the house to have it...

Yes. I did a Covid test but it was negative.

Yes. I did a Covid test but it was negative.

Same. I think I might be a bit late doing it though. Horrendous high temperature on and off for days, keep thinking I'm better then off food and temperature again.

Better tonight so let's see. Thanks for all the replies.

My main concern was feeling faint yesterday, and not hot enough here to be heat exhaustion, I've endured way hotter just fine. Just feel out of control / anxious when faint, but it's gone now.

Yes! I thought I was starting the change at one point 😆

I have, what I assume is, flu at the moment. I’ve been ill since Tuesday. Chills and fever sweats, extreme tiredness, sore throat, coughing up all sorts of nasty stuff, headaches… It’s been horrible. Only just starting to feel a little bit better today.

I’m in Sussex so not too far from you. Maybe something is going round at the moment. Rest of the family are all clear 🤷🏻‍♀️
