Did you ever get weird vibes from someone and couldn’t explain why?

I probably sound totally insane, but I’m hoping that there are others like me so I don’t feel like a total freak.
I have one colleague in my team direct team who somehow gives me the creeps. He hasn’t done anything specific, or made crude comments, or anything but I just can’t help feeling that something is off. I know that this sounds mad because I can’t even explain why, and this is driving me nuts.
It really got to me today and it made me wonder if there is something wrong with me or if other people get these vibes too and if they ever found out what caused their reactions.
I passively commented on it today to someone and I feel like I’ve made a big mistake because I can’t even explain my reasoning and I should have kept my mouth shut but what’s done is done.

I definitely get these vibes and have been right in the past.

I went to see Lost Prophets as a teenager and Ian Watkins really creeped me out but I couldn't explain why. As soon as he came on stage, I just had a very bad feeling.

I was once walking through town on my way to work
Minding my own business, earphones in,hood on my coat up and blocking out the rest of the world as it was pissing down
Turned a corner and it was like I'd walked into a wall of evil
Looked around and there was a bloke, standing looking a bit dazed and frail-evil just poured out of him
Turns out,he's a danger to both women and girls and has done many prison sentences but has served his time
He's not dazed or frail at all-its an act to stop people from beating him up for his crimes

Another time I was at work (retail, think golden arches) and this bloke walked up to me
I couldn't get away fast enough-the vibes buzzed off him
I refused to serve him and made it clear the young girls where not to go hear him either
I made the male manager deal with him (the bloke was an entitled twat)
He's a convicted pedophile-he also has done his time (over and over again) and they cant stop him from coming in and getting his kicks from watching the young girls (he and his brother where also sent to prison for the sex acts they committed against his brothers wife)
We cant ban him either as he's not done anything to anyone and to do so is against his 'human rights'

A woman often comes in (she's a nasty cow-i can deal with nasty people, that doesnt bother me)
She has 'something' about her
I just know that given half a chance she'd stab me to death in the loos (she hates me for no reason)
She looks 'normal' but she's got nothing behind her eyes-they are 'shark' eyes and completely dead
We all avoid her where possible

There was a thread on here a while back about knowing murderers/sex offenders or similar. Alot of comments were about having an odd feeling about someone......6 months later, boom all over media. Was quite a fascinating read.

There is a very powerful thing called a retrospectoscope.

When I moved home a few years ago I inherited the previos owners window cleaner. Kept missing the opportunity to pay the lads as working full time. The boss knocked on my door one evening to collect what I owed. I have no idea why, because he looked perfectly pleasant & was polite, but my skin just crawled. I had to google him & discovered he'd been found guilty of sexually assaulting a 15 year old boy in the local city bus station toilets. I messaged to cancel his services

Someone mentioned "dog senses". Our old German Shepherd never so much as growled in his life except for one time when we were having work done at home and he had his hackles up at one of the workers. The guy had to go around the side to avoid coming near him . I had to say "sorry, my dog doesn't like you" .

When I was about 7/8months pregnant,I'd done the school run,got home and found we had no bread or milk in

Groaning (as I was the size of a bus by this point) I clipped the lead on our German Shepherd and made our way to the corner shop

You could either take the long way round (down a busy street) or a short cut down an alley (not overlooked and very quiet)

Being the size of a blue whale,I took the short cut, bought what I needed and started walking back the same way

Suddenly, she turned from the sap she was (I'd never heard her growl and she'd only bark if someone knocked on the door or she spotted another animal) to a ball of fur, teeth and spit

A bloke, dressed head to foot in black and with the most evil vibe I've ever felt in my life had come up behind me-everything about him was 'dark'

People often walk behind others and this had happened many times before without her batting an eyelid, but this was different-she really had it in for him

He ran off but if she hadn't been with me (I had thought of leaving her at home as she was hard work-a lovely dog around humans but hated all other animals) he would have attacked me

I'm not sure if it was him,but about a month or so later, there was a spate of muggings (one lady almost died) in the area and the mugshot looked just like him

I have no idea if it was him/if they caught whoever it was

I do know I saw evil that day

Every time a celebrity is mentioned on here someone always says they “get weird vibes” from him….

Yes many years ago at a party, there was a doorman who made my skin crawl, everyone else thought he was perfectly nice and polite. Was Levi belfield.

You are not the only person to be sensitive to his vibes. A family member flagged him as a person to watch because of their intense feelings about him whenever they encountered him (they were a police officer at the time). This flag was picked up by the DI and helped lead to his arrest.

Yes.
An old high school teacher always made me feel very uneasy. It wasn't his behaviour, but I always felt inexplicably uncomfortable around him.

Years after I'd left, he was found guilty in a horrific case of child sexual abuse involving a toddler.

Another time, I was walking past a man in a world of my own, I didn't even look at him or see his face, but at the moment we passed each other (he was walking towards me) my whole body had an extreme physical reaction: I felt like my heart thumped in my chest, my skin crawled and I felt sick. He gave off an extremely evil aura. I couldn't have recognised him in a line up, but all my senses were telling me he was evil and dangerous. I stopped dead in my tracks and froze, then turned around, but he carried on walking and didn't look back.

It's never happened before or since.

Even just reading your post has made the hair on the back of my neck stand up on end.

I think you have to absolutely trust your gut on these things. I had a workman in my house recently and something about him just made me feel so deeply uncomfortable. I had this overwhelming feeling that in a different situation, he’d be capable of raping me. I’d never been so relieved to get someone out of my house.

No, it was a Mr L

applejane11 · 08/08/2026 08:27

Of course.

We are energetic beings and we can feel other people's energy.

My boss in my current job is an awful person. Cruel and nasty. Any time that I have to see her, my energy starts to feel anxious.

At the moment I only have to see her once a week. On the day that I see her, my energy starts to feel anxious all morning. When I go into her office, my whole body feels afraid. when I come out of her office, my energy feels absolutely awful.

It affects my own energy for the whole rest of the day

applejane11 · 08/08/2026 14:17

I get bad vibes from a lot of people. The Earth is currently in a low vibrational state with a lot of child abuse. People abuse the weakest in society. Those chldren then grow up to become cruel, cold poeple themselves. Why would they care about other people when no one cared about them

I think there are more cruel people than nice people around at the moment. We all need to try to be a kinder society.

ReleaseTheDucksOfWar · 09/08/2026 23:50

A couple of posters have mentioned scent and hormones. I wonder if sometimes people get very strong feelings when the very subtle scents between two people clash strongly. It might mean there's nothing wrong as such, but just they can't easily get on.

@CurlewKate not sure what your issue here is in being so dismissive. It's not that these feelings are always right; quite a few people have said that they've had strong reactions to people and nothing has come of it, and one person has said that they've ended up close friends for 30 years with someone they had an intense antipathy to at first.

It'd be daft to say that intense revulsion is always correct, but equally daft to dismiss it completely. It's a very strong warning sign at the instinctual level for the brain to take notice and prepare for trouble. No harm done if the trouble doesn't arrive, but can be lifesaving.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 10/08/2026 08:20

i have just remembered two occasions when I have had that 'visceral dislike' for people who didn't end up as friends. One was the boyfriend of a customer of mine who gave me the creeps and one was (and still is) the partner of my niece. Really creepy feelings around both of these, but absolutely no evidence that they are anything other than ordinary men who I just don't like for whatever reason.

Yep a few times in my life most notably with my great uncle. I was probably about 8/9 at a family gathering and I distinctly recall him staring at my younger cousin’s legs (she was about 2/3 and had a short dress on). I thought even then that it was off and weird and he just generally gave me an icky feeling. He was a scouts leader for many years which kinda makes me feel ickier about him.

Anyway I had a rare heart to heart with my mum last year and she told me he had always given her the heebies. She said she was convinced he used to look up her skirt as a child/at her legs etc and she never liked him. She also said he’s always been way too close to his granddaughter for her liking and that she still sits on his lap now she’s 20… This was totally unprompted by me btw, I hadn’t told her about my feelings towards him.

Pretty certain he’s Humbertian if you like…

But you had a perfectly good reason to ‘get weird vibes’ from this man — it wasn’t in the least inexplicable. You observed behaviours that gave you cause for concern, and your mother corroborated them.

Spiffingdarling88 · 10/08/2026 08:42

I was walking to work one day (regular route), guy drove out of his driveway and he looked at me as he was pulling onto a main road, sent chills down my spine. I do understand what people mean when they say dead behind the eyes and a weird aura.

Two weeks later and the police have tape around his house and was charged with multiple murders.

I agree. It is fascinating. I remember somebody writing on MN that she'd moved to a new house and got bad vibes from a very friendly old neighbour. No reason. He was out jogging and just welcomed her to the area. But the minute she saw him look at her teenage daughter her whole body screamed "get away". She later found out he was a convicted paedophile.

F-ing disgusting that that man was free to walk up to a young mum and her child and try and ingratiate himself with her – no warnings, no restraints, nothing. It terrifies me to think how many of them there are, and how often they must succeed.

Maybe people cared but didn't know it was going on. Many people do not repeat the cycle.

It was so odd as normally I don’t take any notice of people that aren’t in the group as such. He was polite I will grant him that, he just made me feel awful. Out of our group at the party only 2 of us felt off about him, the other one was a man. It was like fear is the only way I can describe him.
