Anyone done a Thames rib tour?

Taking my 11 year old and her friend into London next Fri and looking for something different to do for an 11th birthday treat.

Is it worth doing and fun enough for them? If anyone has done it recently would love to know what you thought!

I think it might be a bit scary (but I'm a wuss). How about a river boat tour instead? There must be one with ice cream etc.

The ai answers say from 10 upwards especially for a Break the Barrier tour. I’d just do a normal boat tour though.

It’s really fun OP. But expensive and not particularly long. My teens absolutely love it.

InQuiresandplaceswheretheysing · 05/08/2026 18:28

I’d love to do that!

It’s great! It’s fast but more thrilling than scary (I hate rollercoasters but loved this). If they’re not particularly sensitive I think it would be fine for 11.

We did it a couple of weeks ago - down to the Thames Barrier and I LOVED it. I agree it’s fast & thrilling as apposed to scary but it was a really great experience & not one you’ll regret! Your 11 year old will love it! Enjoy.

I had my eyes shut most of the time but DC and DH loved it.

I've done it a couple of times and loved it. You go slowly up to Tower Bridge but after that it's full speed ahead - great fun!

Thanks for all the thoughts! To be honest I hadn't quite realised how short it is for the price. Might do something else this time and do the rib tour when it's just me and DD!

It is quite short but great fun and and good soundtrack!

OnlyMabelInTheBuilding · 06/08/2026 19:45

They are great fun, we took the kids at age 8 and 3,
they loved it.

Dilemma999 · 06/08/2026 20:07

It looks quite bouncy.

StonedCrow · 06/08/2026 20:08

Yes, it was brilliant, loads of fun. I want to go again!

That’s what puts me off.

Not sure if they’re still running them, but we did a Horrible Histories trip on the Thames a few years ago which was really entertaining!

MyLeftArmpit · 10/08/2026 15:03

I had to ask ChatGPT was that was but it looks really fun!!
