Breakfast radio suggestions

Looking for suggestions for a morning radio station please, between 6ish and 9ish.
Loved Garry Davies on BBC radio recently, but struggling to gel with Sara Cox, she's a bit too over excitable for me in a morning!

I would like a channel that plays a variety of music, maybe a quiz or too, and someone not too shouty!

Any suggestions?

Thank you x

Greatest hits is so repetitive though, you will be bored with the music after a fortnight. The pool of choice is very small.

Five Live on the alarm
Virgin until I get p’ed off with Chris Evans’ self aggrandising.
Then Greatest Hits.
R4 during the day
Greatest Hits on the way home

Chris Moyles on Radio X - It’s genius work.

AmberExpert · 05/08/2026 15:26

Oh thank you for all these suggestions. I used to love Chris Moyles when he was on BBC radio many years ago x

I really like Greg James on Radio one.

Just the right amount of silliness for me int he morning and he has great interaction with listeners. He literally kept me sane during the covid lockdowns.

Me too. I don't think I'm in Radio 1's target demographic age-wise but I don't care!

What's wrong with local radio?

madaboutpurple · 06/08/2026 07:04

Boom radio seems worth listening to.

Epoisses · 06/08/2026 07:09

I've gone over to Radio 6.

FunnyDoginLahLahLand · 04/09/2026 09:36

Just switched to Chris Moyles on Radio X. Omg I should have done this ages ago. Reminding me how great Radio 1 used to be.

I believe most of them have been bought over by the big corps. We certainly don’t have local radio here, I mean we do as they use the name still but it’s part of a much bigger network and there is nothing local about it, apart from the news. Local radio used to be really good, we lost it years ago.
