Military representatives from all 32 NATO member states have arrived in Kyiv, NATO Military Committee Chair Giuseppe Cavo Dragone said.
This is the first official visit of its kind to Kyiv in eight years.

❗️Russian drone incursions into Moldovan airspace are deliberate and not accidental, according to Ukraine’s Air Force.
β€œThese are planned operations. While perhaps 2–3% might have been affected by electronic warfare [systems], they can organize effective signal relay coverage over the Black Sea, so these are planned actions,” Yurii Cherevashenko, Deputy Commander of the Ukrainian Air Force, said at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada’s Temporary Investigative Commission.

Sweden is deploying Patriot air defense systems and approximately 100 troops to Poland to protect the key logistics hub for arms supplies to Ukraine against Russian missiles and drones, Le Monde reports.
Starting December 1, the Swedish military is set to take over protection of the hub near RzeszΓ³w-Jasionka Airport, relieving the Dutch contingent currently stationed there. More than 80% of military aid to Ukraine passes through the area, with the monthly volume of cargo estimated at around 18,000 tons.
The site is currently protected by two Dutch Patriot batteries, NASAMS, anti-drone systems, and Polish air defenses. The Swedish mission could last up to seven months. Stockholm has explicitly stated that the hub requires protection against potential air and ground threats.
Sweden is reinforcing the protection of RzeszΓ³w with more than Patriot systems. Swedish Gripen fighter jets have been patrolling over Poland since October, with one of their missions being to provide air cover for aid deliveries to Ukraine.

πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Ί The EU is preparing for a potential β€œnightmare” hybrid attack from abroad, Politico reports.
Ambassadors from the 27 EU member states are holding closed-door discussions on a possible major hybrid attack resulting in mass casualties and potential response measures.
The discussions intensified following the discovery of an explosive-laden drone at Leipzig Airport in August. Measures under consideration include creating emergency response teams, assisting the affected country, and coordinating actions by EU leaders.
However, some countries fear that Brussels’ initiatives could duplicate NATO’s functions and create confusion over decision-making.

South Korea has supplied more than 176,000 tons of fuel to Russia, including shipments carried by sanctioned tankers, The Guardian reports, citing port documents and vessel tracking data.
The deliveries were made by seven tankers that completed 14 voyages to Vladivostok and other Far East ports. Three of the vessels are subject to UK and EU sanctions, while some reportedly concealed their actual routes.

Two merchant vessels were attacked by drones off the coast of Bulgaria. One of the vessels sank, and its crew is missing, according to BGNES.
The Bulgarian government is convening an emergency meeting. Prime Minister Rumen Radev described the attack as β€œa gross violation of international law and maritime norms.”
It is currently unknown whose drones were involved.
β€œThis is an absolutely unacceptable attack and a gross violation of international law and maritime norms. The attack severely complicates shipping in the Black Sea,” Radev said.
The strikes took place within Bulgaria’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
An EEZ is a maritime area beyond and adjacent to a country’s territorial waters. It is not part of a country’s territory in the same sense as its territorial waters, meaning the country does not exercise the same sovereign rights and jurisdiction there.
Therefore, neither of the commercial vessels was in Bulgarian territorial waters.

πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬ Bulgaria will not invoke NATO Articles 4 or 5 over the attack on civilian vessels in the Black Sea, Prime Minister Rumen Radev said.
Radev said Bulgaria sees no grounds for doing so. He clarified that the incident occurred within Bulgaria’s exclusive economic zone, approximately 130 kilometers from the coast, but that these waters have neutral status.

🌐 First in Europe. Ukraine ranked third globally among the most frequent targets of cyberattacks.
According to Microsoft’s Digital Defense Report 2026, Ukraine accounted for 4.8% of all victims worldwide, trailing only the US and Israel.
Microsoft noted that Ukraine remains a primary target for Russian hacker groups, which accounted for 14% of recorded attacks. The public sector was the most frequent target, with phishing serving as the primary method of intrusion.
The company also warned that the use of AI is accelerating cyber threats, reducing the time between vulnerability discovery and exploitation to less than 24 hours.

Ukraine’s defense forces did not conduct any operations in Bulgarian waters, where two merchant vessels were struck by drones today. It has been established that this was a combined Russian attack using sea and aerial drones, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

Russia is ramping up production and use of cheap, jet-powered β€œquasi-cruise” missiles to intensify attacks on Ukraine, ISW says.
Faster and more maneuverable than Shahed drones, the weapons are putting growing pressure on Ukraine’s air defenses

Ukraine’s Air Force expects Russia could increase the speed of its jet-powered attack drones to 800-900 kilometers per hour, although such speeds have not yet been observed.
Moscow is also expected to expand its use of jet drones, forcing Kyiv to accelerate interceptor production and rely heavily on F-16 fighters.

His goal: build a modern army designed not just to survive this war, but to deter the next one.

Freeze or liberation? A growing share of Ukrainians see a hard compromise as the likeliest end to the war: 41% say Ukraine may preserve its independence while some territory remains occupied, up from 33% in February 2025. Still, 53% expect Ukraine to reclaim at least part of the occupied land, a KIIS poll found.

Kyiv has begun installing anti-drone netting on the North Bridge after it was struck by Russian drones on consecutive days, Oct. 3 and 4.
The first strike damaged the roadway and trolleybus overhead lines, forcing authorities to temporarily close traffic from the left bank to the right bank. A second drone strike the following day again damaged the road surface and injured two people; one civilian was hospitalized.
The North Bridge is a key Dnipro crossing connecting Kyiv’s left-bank neighborhoods with the city center.

Kyiv’s North Bridge has been repaired following the Russian drone attack on Oct. 4, the city administration said.

The city, under Russian occupation, is facing a humanitarian crisis, with 2,000 residents lacking basic supplies and unable to leave.

A naval drone struck a tanker off the Russian resort city of Sochi, Russia’s Transport Ministry said, as thick smoke from the fire spread over the coast. The Ukrainian monitoring channel Supernova identified the vessel as the Liberian-flagged Aframax Rio.
All 23 crew members, all Indian nationals, were rescued. Authorities restricted access to beaches and parts of the coastline. Firefighters were waiting for the blaze to subside before approaching the tanker. Some local accounts said no explosions were heard before the fire began.

UNITED24 Media Telegram Highlights

Russia’s offensive in Ukraine has slowed sharply, with September marking the worst month for Russian territorial gains since June 2023, according to The New York Times.
The Ukrainian counteroffensive in the northern Donbas thwarted Russian attempts to encircle cities still under Ukrainian control. Russian forces lost dozens of square kilometers of territory, while the Armed Forces of Ukraine managed to stabilize their defenses in the southern Donbas.
Western analysts differ on the exact figures but agree on the main point: in 2026, Russia captured only slightly more territory than it lost. This stands in stark contrast to the Russian Defense Ministry’s claims of capturing more than 5,000 square kilometers.
One reason for the slowdown is the expansion of Ukraine’s β€œkill zone,” driven by the use of drones and other strike capabilities. As a result, the Russian tactic of infiltrating Ukrainian positions in small groups, which had long facilitated gradual advances, is becoming increasingly ineffective.
Nevertheless, Russia is not abandoning its offensive. In some sectors of the Donbas, Russian forces send hundreds of troops into attacks every day while simultaneously intensifying air strikes on Ukrainian cities.

Sweden conducted an evacuation exercise on the Baltic Sea island of Gotland due to a potential threat from Russia, Le Monde reports.
Around 200 volunteers were tasked with organizing an evacuation from the strategically important island. Special attention was given to people with specific needs. For example, some participants role-played people with dementia. Staff from various organizations and government agencies also took part in the exercise.

❗️Ukraine is prepared for several ceasefire options, ranging from a full truce to a halt in strikes on energy infrastructure and combat operations in the Black Sea, according to the Foreign Ministry.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhii Tykhyi said Kyiv is ready for an unconditional and complete ceasefire, a Black Sea truce mediated by TΓΌrkiye and Egypt, a halt to strikes on energy infrastructure and a β€œfood truce” mediated by India, as well as a separate energy-related truce involving the US.
The key question, according to Tykhyi, is whether Russia is prepared for these formats.
At the same time, a new trilateral round of talks involving Ukraine, the US, and Russia is being discussed. Washington has proposed holding the talks in the UAE, and Kyiv has agreed. A final decision from Moscow is still pending.

⚑️The EU has agreed on sanctions against more than 1,646 individuals and entities linked to Russia’s war against Ukraine, Euronews reports.
The new sanctions will target 743 individuals and 826 entities. The decision still requires formal approval by EU foreign ministers in Luxembourg on October 12.
The list will also include 77 Russian lawmakers who ran in State Duma elections held in temporarily occupied territories.
For the sanctioned individuals, the restrictions will include an EU entry ban, asset freezes, and a ban on providing funding.
Following this latest expansion, the total number of individuals and entities on the EU sanctions list against Russia will reach nearly 4,650.

The SBU warns that Russia is preparing a series of information and psychological operations (IPSO) regarding the situation in the temporarily occupied city of Oleshky.
According to operational intelligence, troops from one of the occupation units have been ordered to prepare a series of β€œcompromising” interviews featuring residents of the city.
In these videos, Russia intends for local residents to:
β–ͺ️ accuse Ukraine’s Defense Forces of constant shelling and blockading the city;
β–ͺ️ discredit the decisions of Ukraine’s military and political leadership;
β–ͺ️ express a positive attitude toward and gratitude for the aggressor’s military.
According to the SBU, the hostile IPSO campaign is scheduled for October and early November.
The SBU urges the public to:
β–ͺ️ view such β€œsensational” information critically;
β–ͺ️ avoid trusting posts from hostile or pro-Russian Telegram channels;
β–ͺ️ refrain from spreading unverified information;
β–ͺ️ rely exclusively on information from official sources.

Three one-year-old children and an eight-year-old boy were among those killed in the Russian strike on Pryluky, President Zelenskyy said.

😑 Russian forces attacked a civilian infrastructure facility in Sumy, killing one person and injuring four others.
The casualties include two children and two adults. One of the adults is in serious condition, the Regional Military Administration reported.

According to preliminary information, Russian forces used long-range rocket artillery, firing four projectiles at the regional center.

❗️Three people were killed in Russian strikes on Kyiv, Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported.
The number of injured has risen to 14. Eight people have been hospitalized in city hospitals, including two in serious condition.

πŸ‡©πŸ‡ΏAlgerian military aircraft regularly fly through EU airspace to Russia, carrying weapons, Defence24 reports.
On October 6, a Lockheed C-130H-30 Hercules of the Algerian Air Force again flew over Poland. At 06:45, the monitoring resource Polish Military Radar reported it. The aircraft took off from Boufarik airbase, flew over Italy, Croatia, Hungary, and Slovakia, then through Poland and Belarus headed to Moscow β€” landing at Vnukovo.
Defence24 notes that these are not isolated flights. In recent weeks, Il-76MD, C-130H/H-30 Hercules, and LM-100J Super Hercules aircraft have also been spotted in European skies.
According to the portal, these aircraft transport weapons and specialists servicing Russian systems in Algeria's arsenal. Similar flights are also made to Belarus, and Russia uses them.
Defence24 links these flights to Russia's military presence in Africa, particularly in Mali, the Central African Republic, and Libya. Algeria and Libya are important for this system due to their location near the Mediterranean Sea, the Sahara, and the Sahel.
For Poland, the problem is that an air corridor passes through the territory of a NATO country, used by aircraft supporting Algeria's military cooperation with Russia.

Donald Trump's and Putin's teams are discussing how to sell Russian gas to Europe again and bring in an American investor for the Nord Stream pipelines, Reuters reports, citing five sources.
Putin's special envoy Kirill Dmitriev and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner have joined the talks. Kushner considers business with Russia an important part of the peace process, and if the sides reach an agreement, American investors could earn from selling energy to Europe after the war.
The White House says any deal must go through the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) and the US Treasury, and must benefit American taxpayers and companies. At the same time, it assures that Nord Stream has not been discussed recently.
Last month, Dmitriev met with representatives of the US Treasury and Energy Department β€” they discussed possible US-Russian energy projects. He also advocates for Germany to buy gas from Russia again.
However, an unnamed US official considers a Nord Stream deal unlikely in the medium term: the US and EU have imposed sanctions, and Germany has already found alternatives to Russian gas and does not want to restart the pipeline.
Before the full-scale war, Germany received over half of its gas from Russia via Nord Stream. Poland and the Baltic states also oppose restoring energy ties with Russia.
In parallel, Kushner and Dmitriev are discussing the sale of Lukoil assets to American, Qatari, and Emirati investors.

The Russians attacked the new warehouse of the "Knyholav" publishing house in Kyiv β€” it contained books that had been restored after the July attack.
There are currently no precise estimates of how many books were lost, but it involves tens of thousands. No employees were injured in the attack.
The publishing house clarified that among the destroyed items are new releases, as well as reprints of the books that Russia destroyed in July at the previous warehouse.

In Latvia, a woman has been sentenced to six years in prison for donating to the Russian army, local media Delfi reports.
According to the State Security Service, through an acquaintance in Belarus acting as an intermediary, the woman transferred €43 for drone jamming equipment.
Polina Kamlova called her actions a mistake but denied wanting to support Russia's war. She had previously been a member of the party "Russian Union of Latvia."
Kamlova was also given three years of supervision after release. The prosecutor had sought eight years in prison for her.

A telephone conversation between Putin and Trump could potentially take place today, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
Moscow agrees with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s assessment that there are currently no prospects for a diplomatic settlement β€œon” Ukraine, Peskov added.

Russia’s internet has experienced a major outage following a Ukrainian attack on a data center in Sasovo, Ryazan region, The Moscow Times reports.
Monitoring sites Sboy.rf and Downdetector reported a massive outage affecting services including T-Bank, Sovcombank, and Alfa-Bank, Avito, Google, YouTube, and RuTube, streaming platforms Ivi and KION, the educational resource Dnevnik. ru, the Russian Railways website, several mobile operators, and retailers such as Pyaterochka, Magnit, and DNS.
The most severe disruptions have been reported in St. Petersburg and Moscow. Moscow residents have also reported an outage affecting the Mango Office cloud service.
The disruptions began after Ukrainian drones attacked a Yandex data center in Sasovo overnight into Thursday. A fire broke out at the facility, and users reported problems with Yandex Disk, Yandex Documents, and other services.
Following the attack, online bus ticket purchases in the Moscow region also became unavailable. Mostransavto attributed the disruption to the β€œsuspension of operations at the data center that supports online ticket purchasing services.”
Users have also reported difficulties accessing the websites of Russian media outlets, including RBC, RIA Novosti, Kommersant, Vedomosti, Interfax, and Vesti.

African nations want Ukraine to recognize Africans who fought for Russia as victims of human trafficking rather than prisoners of war, Bloomberg reports.
Kenya is negotiating the return of its citizens. Foreign Minister Musalia Mudavadi said they β€œreport having been recruited under false pretenses, with deceptive promises regarding employment.” Zimbabwe and Botswana have also raised concerns. According to Bloomberg, at least 213 foreign nationals are being held in Ukrainian prisoner-of-war camps, including 37 Africans.
Kenya is negotiating the return of five people, the youngest of whom is 23, Mudavadi said. He added that President William Ruto had already discussed the issue with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Botswana’s Foreign Ministry has also announced plans to repatriate one citizen.
African officials say some of their citizens were lured to Russia with promises of civilian jobs, such as drivers, security guards, or cooks, and were subsequently forced into military service.
Mudavadi said Kenya wants these men recognized as β€œvictims of international human trafficking” rather than prisoners of war. According to his figures, about 84 Kenyans have been killed or gone missing during Russia’s war against Ukraine, while another 34 remain in Russia receiving treatment for injuries. A total of 62 Kenyan citizens who participated in the war have been repatriated so far, he said.
In a statement released Thursday, Zimbabwe’s government expressed concern over deceptive cross-border recruitment practices.
β€œUnfortunately, some recruits were sent to active front lines in host countries without any prior military training,” the statement said, without explicitly naming Russia or Ukraine.
Ukraine says Russia has recruited more than 28,000 foreign nationals from 135 countries to participate in combat operations. More than 5,000 have been killed, and citizens of 51 countries are currently being held as prisoners of war, according to Ukrainian figures.
Russia has not publicly acknowledged these figures and maintains that it has β€œsufficient human resources for the war.”

πŸ“š An installation featuring books burned during Russian attacks has been unveiled at the Frankfurt Book Fair.
Displayed in a glass case are 22 books with charred pages and traces of ash. They survived a Russian attack on the β€œRanok” publishing house’s automated logistics center in Kharkiv on August 1. The missile strike and resulting fire destroyed approximately 8 million books, including 620,000 school textbooks.
The installation, titled Born/Burn Alive, was created by Ukrainian artist Valentyna Veremko. The books are stacked to form a tower, while the glass case features a timeline marking 12 dates from 1626 to the present day. The timeline connects the destruction of Ukrainian books today with Russia’s centuries-long history of destroying Ukrainian culture.
The installation will be on display at the Frankfurt Book Fair from October 7 to 11.

A metal hangar used to store paint was destroyed at the impact site in Kyiv’s Solomianskyi district. A fire broke out, covering an area of 500 square meters.

Russia’s Aerospace Forces received an undisclosed number of Su-34 fighter-bombers on Oct. 7, the second delivery this year. UAC says production of the upgraded aircraft will continue at an accelerated pace.
The company reportedly delivered 18 aircraft in seven batches in 2025 despite sanctions.

Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkey have invoked their Mecca defense pact for the first time after Houthi attacks on Saudi targets. It links the Muslim world’s only nuclear-armed state, one of NATO’s largest militaries and the Gulf’s biggest defense spender.
Could it reshape regional security and US influence?

Ukraine is set to receive tens of thousands of SPYS drone interceptors under a German-financed program, Quantum Systems says.
Thousands could arrive this year, with production potentially reaching several thousand units per month.

A leaked Russian blueprint estimates Moscow would need around 1,000 drones, bombs and ballistic missiles to disable 60 critical Ukrainian facilities.
Kyiv, Kharkiv and Odesa are listed as the main targets, though experts caution the document is a weapons-requirement estimate β€” not a final operational order.

The Pentagon has ordered another 1,320 Ukrainian-made F10 strike drones under its Drone Dominance program, F-Drones told Militarnyi.
The batch is due by the end of November, pending a new Ukrainian export permit.

Ukraine has approved the Blade drone interceptor for military procurement and use, expanding Kyiv’s counter-drone arsenal.
Developed by Phantom Defense, it can reach 310 km/h, operate within a 30-km range and carry a payload of up to 0.5 kg.

More than 100,000 Ukrainians in the US could be left uncertain about their future if the Trump administration does not act on their temporary protected status by Oct. 19.

A Ukrainian drone strike set the 107,000-ton Aframax Rio ablaze 30 km (15 nautical miles) off Sochi.
Russian officials say no pollution occurred and reopened beaches, while reports indicate oil spilled and burned on the water.

France will begin training Ukrainian pilots to fly Rafale fighter jets in November, Le Monde reports.
The training is part of Kyiv’s plans to buy the aircraft; France is not transferring jets from its own air force. Paris and Kyiv signed a letter of intent in November 2025 for the possible purchase of around 100 Rafales, along with weapons.
Training pilots and mechanics is expected to take several years. Funding and delivery dates have not yet been determined.

Montenegro has detained Mikhail Zvinchuk, founder of the pro-Kremlin war blog Rybar, along with his wife and three others. Prime Minister Milojko Spajić confirmed the detention, citing concerns about attempts to destabilize the country.
Local media say the operation targeted suspected β€œhybrid activities” by Russian information networks; the specific allegations against the group have not been made clear.

A 14-year-old girl is set to stand trial in Rivne, accused of killing a 27-year-old Ukrainian serviceman on orders from Russia. She remains in custody.
Investigators say she prepared alcohol mixed with methadone in a rented apartment. The serviceman, whom she had met 10 days earlier, drank it and lost consciousness. She allegedly strangled him during a video call with her handler; he died of mechanical asphyxiation.
She is also accused of setting fire to an Opel Campo military vehicle.

In Zakarpattia, the first new road border crossing point with Romania in nearly 20 years has been opened β€” "Bila Tserkva β€” Sighetu MarmaΘ›iei," announced Minister of Restoration, Infrastructure, and Transport of Ukraine Mykola Kalashnyk.
For Zakarpattia, this is the third road crossing with Romania. It is intended to help relieve existing checkpoints and provide people and businesses with another route.
The crossing is especially important for the Solotvyno community, where a large community of ethnic Romanians lives. Many families have relatives across the border, so the new crossing will simplify trips to visit them. Initially, the crossing will be able to handle up to 400 cars per day.
Ukraine built the access road and installed modular control infrastructure, while Romania built the crossing itself and a new bridge over the Tisza.
For now, traffic has been opened using temporary infrastructure. Next, a full-scale complex is planned, which will additionally be able to handle up to 360 trucks and 50 buses per day.
