Anyone else awake for a ridiculous reason?

Had mild ear pain on and off for 3 months. Finally got someone to look in it (a friend with a medical background). Thought it might be a bit of inflammation or an infection. Turns out that time I took my tshirt off over my head and couldn't find my earring back was due to it being in my ear canal. Can't get to a&e until Thursday. Much more painful now my ear has been manipulated to get a good view! Lesson learned. If your ear hurts, don't wait to get it checked out! Highly embarrassing reading that 95% of people who get things stuck in their ears are under the age of 8... anyone else up?

•flumps down on sofa, waves wearily•
Have been awake since 3am - perimenopause needs me suddenly conscious in the middle of the night so that I can worry about things I have no control over. Box-breathing, visualisations, CBT techniques all useless 🙃
Am away on holiday with DH and DC with a full day of activities ahead, so am hugely annoyed at self/hormones.
Hot drinks and delicious, nourishing snacks for those also here, especially OP - hope you get your ear sorted with astonishing speed. Glad not to be alone and thank you for the thread ☕️

No idea what woke me but been awake since 3am and now so alert its unreal. I've had a drink, of water and been to loo but now feeling hungry but don't want to disturb DC or the kitten.__

Awake since three with a toddler who gets very upset and very loud if she's not allowed to lie and pinch me until she goes to sleep. Two other kids and a husband who need to sleep so as much as I'd like to let her scream it out, I won't. Bleeeeeuch.

I’m awake because I’m hungry and I’m stressing about being hungry tomorrow when I have to fast for c-section surgery. I hate being hungry and it’s just going around and around in my brain 🤦‍♀️

@7nationbaby That's exciting! I think that's a great reason to be awake! Good luck with it all. Have all your snacks ready for after!

It's so late 😫

Anyone know if it is likely to take more than 3 hours in a&e to have this thing removed from my ear? I have 3 hours tomorrow!

Have you got a minor injuries unit near you? Get there as soon as it opens. Once you get seen it should be easy to remove the object from your ear.
Good luck

Ten years post-menopause and still wake at 4 every night. Will be a zombie all day.

PermanentTemporary · 05/08/2026 05:51

Woke about half four because I’m 57, it’s light and I’ve got a lot of plates spinning. Pissed off because I am absolutely knackered ATM.

Up early cause one of my daughters birthday balloons popped and I thought someone was shooting me 😁

Although I didn’t see this post at the time I was awake at 1am because some idiot decided that 12.30am on a Tuesday night / Wednesday morning was a great time to set off a load of fireworks in their garden (sounded like a birthday from all the shouting that went along with it) they also realised they hadn’t set them all off so did two more mini sets a little later…..and then some more shouting…..
