How to explain applying for a new job immediately after a big promotion?

Like, within a few weeks? I got a major promotion very recently. But this week it has emerged that some key people in my organisation (board members) haven't taken it seriously and it has really soured my view of the last 7 years and their view of my work and future role in the organisation. In a fit of pique I have started an application for a really interesting and relevant role in a different company. But how do I address the fact that my promotion was (cynically I now see) loudly announced just a few weeks ago? I'm in a niche sector so even though I didn't know the people in the new company directly, a cursory bit of digging will reveal all.

Just focus on how great the new role is. You would do that in an interview anyway wouldn't you. If they specifically mention it just say you feel this role fits your future ambitions better or something.

Blimey I'd just get on with the promotion it sounds great, don't let the views of others dictate the path of your life
