Should they have joined the queue again

Just asking if I am in the wrong or not, went to the post office earlier there was a bit of a queue, it got to my turn and a couple who were filling out forms on the desk went before me, should they have joined the queue again? I queried it with the person working and he said oh they were only a few minutes, but I’m thinking that’s not the point there’s a queue. Must add I had just finished work and was feeling hot and bothered.

No they should not have rejoined the queue

would have been worse if they had filled in the forms at the teller.

they saved you time.

If they have been seen and given forms to complete then they are still being served. To make it quicker they have let other be served in the meantime but yes they should slot back in, presumably to the same cashier.

If they’d already queued for the counter, been given a form to complete by the cashier then no I wouldn’t expect them to join the queue again. The alternative would be them saying ‘I’m not moving aside I’m going to fill the form in here’ thus preventing anyone else from moving up the queue.

Of course not!

You waited less time because they moved to the side to complete the forms.

No, they could have just filled them in right in front of the window. They were doing the right thing by stepping to one side so other customers could be served in the meantime.
