Universal credit for childcare?

Hi,

I was just reading a thread about maintenance where the OP used the entitledto website to work out benefit entitlement.

I am a newly single mum and assumed I earned too much to claim UC.

I put my details into entitledto and it suggests I could get an amount worth claiming. This is roughly 85% of my childcare costs, which I believe is a thing.

Does this seem right?

Greatful for any thoughts. I know there are some very knowledgeable posters!

Put in a claim, and see what happens.

Yes that is the obvious answer. Thanks. Just a bit surprised and didnt want to waste my time if I had made a stupid mistake. I appreciate that is a bit lazy of me though

If you're eligible for UC then claim it

You can claim the 85% as well as the 30 free hours. Def worth doing.

I am past the nursery stage, thankfully!
But thank you for the tip. I would be claiming for breakfast and afterschool club.

As long as they’re a properly registered club you can claim.

When I volunteered at cab a lot of people were surprised they could claim childcare help. The algorithm can be difficult to work out sometimes so is worth claiming and seeing what they say.

Yes it is a registered club. Quite a big company that operates it'll lots of locations.

Really glad I saw that other thread as I had just assumed I wouldn't be eligible for anything. And it was the cost of childcare that was worrying me moving forward!

How can anyone tell you if it’s right or not without having the details?
Online calculators aren’t 100% accurate so until you apply you won’t know for sure.

Thanks for that! Was just interested in others experience. I have seen many similar posts in the past and good responses of shared experiences. I am aware they are not accurate. That's why I asked
