Sainsbury’s delivery pass if final total is under £50 because they don’t have the stock

What happens if the final total for my Sainsbury’s shop is less than £50 because they don’t have some of the items that I ordered?

Delivery is free if it’s over £50 because I have a delivery pass and I usually do a big shop. I’m thinking of doing a smaller top up but I’m a bit nervous in case they don’t have something and it falls below that £50. I do not want to pay £7.50 for delivery!

Has this happened to anyone else? I can’t see anything about this on the Sainsbury’s site/terms and conditions.

I know, that kind of thing bothers me too. I just always order maybe £10-20 over the limit just in case. Top it up with stock things like tins and toilet paper and dried store cupboard foods. So I've never found out what happens! Would be useful if supermarkets made it clear in their T&Cs.

That’s what I usually do as well, but we’re on holiday so I don’t want to get loads of extra stuff to cart home again…

Surely it’s if your order is over the value. If they can’t deliver the goods to that value they shouldn’t charge you.
I have a delivery pass with Morrisons and it’s only £25 you need to spend without getting hit with a £4 fee for being under that amount. I often just order over the value for a top up shop. Plenty of times they haven’t had items or I’ve returned subs and been under the £25. They don’t add the additional charge.

Oh damn, yes that scuppers that plan. What about a couple of bottles of wine?
Actually thinking about it I often add salami - not usually out of stock, relatively expensive to bump up the bill, and small enough to bring home (yes I have this issue on holidays too!)

Tesco won't charge the under £50 fee if an item isn't stock and takes it under £50. Would like to think Sainsburys are they same. It's not your fault it take it below the minimum.

No, the £50 threshold applies to the order value after discounts at the time of ordering - if something is out of stock it's out of your control. I've had a delivery pass for years and years and never been charged a fee.

They send the stuff on your list they do have anyway and don't charge a small delivery fee.
I've had it where they had fuck all for me but a couple packs of dried fruit. But I ordered like 100 quids worth of shopping!

Sainsbury's are the same. I shop for my dad and he only just makes the £50 and easily goes under if something not available but isn't charged.

Yeah we use both and it's the same. Which is fair enough as it's not your fault they didn't have your stuff.
