New job and one pre-booked leave day still not approved

Some advice please, as am feeling bit worried.

Started a new job and informed them of leave plans, told would be ok, no issues should I get the job.

Filled out 2 forms ( due to the way the shifts fall) all been approved but one day has not been. Apparently this 2nd form never made it's way to the pile.

Have been advised to fill it out again, and just have to wait. The person who approves leave is on leave themselves.

What do I do, if this one day does not get approved. I really don't want to mess up chances in this new job, as only a week till I go away. I won't be in the country, so I can't work that shift.

Any help, from anyone who has been in similar position?

I had similar. First term teaching needed to fly to San Francisco for a wedding which meant taking 3 days off. Gently reminded them had tickets booked as it was agreed when I took the job. Head had forgotten when I asked who was doing cover a week before leaving but never an issue. Just see the paperwork as process for something already agreed.

Thanks for replying, ours me at ease. You would think they would at least let you know.
