20.53 and I have been watching the light fade for the past twenty minutes. Despite today's heat, autumn cannot be far away. Who else is rejoicing?

Autumn? It's August fgs.

Come back in September

hexsnidgett · 03/08/2026 21:04

It's wishful thinking. It's still stupid hot.

TheFairyCaravan · 03/08/2026 21:07

I’ve not even had my holiday yet.

Stop wishing time away, life is short enough as it is.

Come back in September
Wish I could - this heat has prostrated me. But my point was that September is now not far away.

Incidentally 'to' in my title should read 'too'. I did not notice this until it was too late, and it seems you can't edit titles.

I thought the same, I’ve really noticed that is is getting dark earlier.

TheChosenTwo · 04/08/2026 22:39

I’m not rejoicing, I’m just enjoying what we have while we have it. Winter will be long and cold and dark and that’s fine, when it’s winter. But for the moment it’s summer and I’m appreciating that.

WerewolfOfLoudon · 04/08/2026 22:42

You think your Summer's lease is too short, come live in Scotland. Summer is July. June was freezing. Started raining here as soon as it became August.

Pedant61 · 04/08/2026 22:44

I have noticed the nights coming in a bit, but it is still only early August, thank goodness. It's wonderful that we have had something like a proper summer this year (in spite of two massive downpours today!), so I hope we have a few weeks left of sun and warmth. Winter will arrive far too quickly and drag on for far too long. Let's not wish our lives away!
