Lads holidays at Haven?!

Arrived at a Haven site with my kids today and am surprised at the number of seemingly lads holidays happening on the park. 2 caravans immediately next to ours are 2 groups of 3 or 4 men shouting and drinking all afternoon. I can't imagine choosing a kids holiday site for a lads holiday and would find it really embarrassing, am I missing something?! 😂

It's hardly cheap and most the entertainment apart from bingo on the evening is obviously for children, I can't fathom why any group of men would come to Haven of all places for a week away! I'd also find it strange for groups of women too so it's not just a men thing.

And they're not young lads either, I'd say 30/40 year olds

Oh. Bizarre. I was going to venture stag do as I am sure Minehead Butlins used to face that. I assume AI deals in the UK bring you to Haven and air bnbs have limitations on groups?

Or it's just a "cheaper" deal than going abroad, given the weather here is warm atm. Maybe last minute deal? You won't get Air bnbs for 8 men and maybe they didn't fancy a festival or had to keep costs down.
It's a bit sad/sweet really - 8 lasses would have booked a nice spa place or a cottage potentially. Men have plumped for where they went they were little!

I thought Haven didn't rent out to large single sex groups.

I just can't imagine grown men sitting down and agreeing to stay at a kids resort with Rory the tiger going around waving at toddlers but maybe that's just me 😂

I live in a seaside/holiday destination and I see more and more people renting their private caravans out on these sites. I know locally, we have lots of people travelling up for work and they stay in sites Mon - Friday.

They never used to. Maybe they do now.

Well there's definitely two groups of only men with cases of beer immediately next to our caravan so they must've done it somehow I suppose

They do groups/events and you can book two caravans next to each other if more than 5.
They still seem to frown upon stags and hens though, can reject/cancel loud and lairy...so if they do get stupid (and the worst chambermaiding I ever had to do were grown ass men away from their wives on conferences 🤢) then give them fair warning then dob them in to reception.
Have to be honest, I bloody love noise and parties to drown mine out, but that's just me!! 😁

Probably private lets. And cheaper than most other options in August.

They don’t allow single sex groups to book as my MiL, her sister and two SIL’s couldn’t book a caravan at the same time we were there.

However, they don’t check as MIL added FIL to the booking and it was accepted fine, but FIL had actually died by the time we all went (which we knew would be the case) and nobody asked her at check in if all of the party was there.

They’ll only take any notice if they get complaints

I thought so too. As far as I'm aware, it is in their terms & conditions.

I'm not surprised that's how these groups get in to be honest it's not like they check at all just ask for the name on the booking and in you go!

Every haven I’ve ever been to has had a no same sex big groups policy??

I don't know how they could ban same sex groups these days because you could have 2 or 3 couples who are married couples, on holiday together but all happen to be the same sex.
I assume that would be some kind of illegal discrimination if they banned them.

How do they define big groups though? we have a three bed caravan with a double bed and two rooms with two singles. If they don't accept 6 guests then why provide beds for that? I can't imagine they're actually policing anything once you've paid if noone complains

Yes that's strange. I didn't notice that at Weymouth Bay. Mostly families or couples.
