What song transports you back in time, and where does it take you?

Steal my sunshine by Len has just come on radio 2. Reminds me of hanging out with friends aged around 13. We'd climb out of my mates bedroom window and sit on the roof chatting, listening to music and feeling completely free. They lived in a very relaxed community of houses where the kids basically roamed free and looked after eachother. I loved it there, though definitely got up to no good!

Other one for me is Hey there Delilah, which came out whilst I was at summer camp in America. Someone said that one day id close my eyes listening to that song and be mentally right back there in the woods, and 20 years later that still happens whenever I hear it ❤️

The Whole of the Moon by The Waterboys takes me back to London, 1996, and falling in love for the first time.

Captain Beaky takes me back to a romantic moment with a bit of a prat. It came on the radio just at the moment and had us in gales of laughter. Always smile when I hear it.

Fugees version of Killing me Softly and Oasis Masterplan. They remind me of driving up to Scotland as an 18 year old after A Levels with my friend in her mum’s car, to meet some other friends. She had them on a tape and they played over and over with us singing loudly along in the sunshine.

She died a few years ago and they take me back to that trip every time I hear them. Masterplan was in the radio when I was driving back from her funeral and it just felt fitting
