At breaking point- how do I carry on?

Looking for advice on how to find hope when life has been so incredibly difficult over the last few years.

I left an abusive relationship with my kids and moved into rented accommodation. The landlord served us notice within a year as they wished to sell the property. We then moved in with my parents, but are having to move again due to them suddenly announcing they are moving abroad so we are looking for a new place to live. In this time, I had burn out from my job and found a new one, had to pay for car repairs as someone damaged my car and drove off, and had to manage a family members ill health.

I feel like I'm at breaking point. I woke up today and just felt like I'd been emptied out completely. I can't bear anything else happening because I'm so on edge. I have no hobbies anymore as life is just damage control and I have no time. I have to find a place to live with my kids but can barely bring myself to do it. I feel like I've failed my kids. How do I cope?

You’ll cope because you have to and you’ve done so much so far, you know you can and you will do great, hobbies will wait for you.

i have to say i want to do similar and the prospect of finding a rental and staying a year - or less and having to move again fills me with dread. So hard.

I couldnt read this and ignore it!

I cant give much advice because when someone told me things will be okay in a similar situation I just couldnt see it until eventually things just gradually fell into place coz I soldered on as you do as mums!
But your doing amazing and you are powerful. Sound silly but listen to the song Harry styles- we'll be alright. It got me through, I listen to it now and I sing it with a smile. Music is powerful x

Sensing you a really big hug.

Take care x

Finding music to keep you going is so true! My favourite I can do this music is Lola Young

I think huge volumes of people are dealing with burn out at the moment. Unfortunately, the only option is to plough on until you get new housing for your kids and then rest when you can.

Thank you for replying and advice. You are right that I will have to just carry on as I have no choice, but my brain is just blank and the stress means I can't think clearly anymore. I just get this dead feeling inside when I wake up. I'm hoping it passes as I need to get my act together and decide on a new home for us all (that is affordable). I'm terrified of more change.

I really don't know how people say setbacks make them stronger. I just feel depleted.

You focus on just the little bit in front of you, whether that is the next 3 mins or the next hour or the next day. And talk to your GP because you need to safeguard your MH. Mention the trouble with sleeping.

My contribution on the musical side is the album Doo-wops & hooligans by Bruno Mars.

Hope you get down sleep soon. The "this experience made me stronger" business comes later, once you can breathe out a bit. One step at a time x
