So today in town, I saw a mum tell off her child for messing about in a shoe shop, then she walked out and left the child 8/9 there

The kid was kinda playing hide and seek I suppose
Sort
of running around hiding from the mum in a playful kinda way, only for a minute or so, then the mum just walked out and left the child, few moments later the child left the shop, assumed it was following the mum…. But 10/15 mins later mum returns looking for child
clearly lost the child

wasn’t too sure what to do as bystander
would you have siad or done anything

bit worried about that kid

Child was probably pratting around in the next three shops too and finally became separated from the mum.

An 8 or 9 year old should've known to follow the Mum out of the shop.

That's old school parenting. My mum would have done that.Walked off and left me if I'd been messing about. But then I would have known to follow her immediately

I wouldn’t assume he had been lost for the whole 10/15 minutes. Might just have been a couple of minutes.

If she was panicking i probably would have offered to help her look.
