I am suffering from anxiety depressive disorder for over a year and also just been diagnosed with low iron deficiency a couple of months ago, I am now on medication for this. I was out the other day and I was running with my children and I just lost all feelings in my legs and collapsed on the lawn. as anyone else had this?
is it linked to my low iron?

I’ve had low iron many years but never collapsed. Are you on iron tablets now?

Catty28 · 01/08/2026 19:39

@Jane143 yes I am

You lost all feeling in your legs and collapsed. When did feeling come back? Were you able to get up and walk easily?

I think you should see your GP

@Jane143 yes I am

And have you got another planned blood test to see how it’s working? I’ve found out over the years that low iron is common but can be serious

you need to see a doctor

Log iron can definitely affect your running, and I know people whose running has improved overnight when low iron has been fixed, but I've never known anyone lose feeling in their legs or collapse because of it.

Not that I know of, my iron drop all the time and not experienced that. My legs have gave way but not felt numb/lost feeling. Definitely contact your doctor first thing Monday morning

@HellonHeels my legs just went from under me. I was laid on the floor for 5 mins but I was able to stand up again soon after

Has your GP done any investigations into your low iron? There will be a cause for it…it’s a symptom not a diagnosis and should be investigated.

BauhausOfEliott · 01/08/2026 21:27

It could certainly make you feel very faint, which might cause you to keel over while running.

Catty28 · 01/08/2026 21:30

@CountryGirlInTheCity yes I had numerous blood tests and it came back that my ferritin levels were low and have low iron deficiency so I am now on iron tablets
