Any other school staff struggling to sleep in the holidays?

I thought that I'd be so tired from the school year that, during the 6 weeks holidays, I'd fall asleep no problems. Instead, I seem to have insomnia and cannot seem to switch off. Today I was determined to get a good night's sleep,so I went for a run and did loads of gardening to try and tire myself out. As you can see from the time of this post, it hasn't worked, and I'm lying here wide awake.
Anyone else who works in a school having the same?

As you can see from the time of my post, my answer is yes!
I've given up trying to have a lie in and just wake at the time I'd normally get up.
I also am trying to read before bed to perhaps help aid sleep.
I know that's not much help but I'm with you!

Oh my gosh me also

I’m having nightmares. Could also be booze related but I’m not relaxed-just tired!

Yup. Mine involves waking to go to the loo around 4 or 5am and then not getting back to sleep again 😒

Although I made it to 6am today 🥳

Hope everyone gets a better night sleep tonight. I've been avoiding naps during the day, but was so tired earlier and had an hour danger nap. Fingers crossed it doesn't mess me up too much....

Yes me too - I wake up at 5.30 or 6.00am 😞 and generally can’t manage more than 5.5 or 6 hours of sleep.

I hope you can relax. All staff at schools deserve to They all work so hard for their pupils and parents during term time I just hope. you all enjoy the holiday.

yep!!!!

To be fair though DS is a Swimmer so we are up at 4am and then he swims again on the evening so we don’t get home until 7.30pm.

My job is both emotionally and physically draining (specialist role within education) and I use the gym 4/5 times a week and /or walk 5k.

So o naturally feel ready for bed at 8/9pm but I’m trying to stay up. I don’t fall asleep until 10/11 but I’m wide awake club at 5am!

I think it’s got to do with the fact that although we’ve had busy days he’s not swimming for a few weeks as the season has ended and I’m not walking/gym and not using my brain at all as much either.

Plus the usual one of - the more you want to sleep the less you can 🤣

Thank you, that's really kind! Still no proper sleep here. Have a couple of days out planned this week, which should tire me out!
