Is there any emergency online counselling with practical guidance available?

I'm going through a very difficult situation. I feel sick to my stomach. I need someone to talk to and help guide me through it.

I searched online and got a phone number for a texting service but I found it's more of a listening service. It's the same with the samaritans. It's more of a listening service.

Where as I need someone to talk to and help explore the situation and how to respond to.

I can't write it online.

I found an online counselling service this morning and I booked a session for this evening. It was going to be a video chat. When I logged in, nothing happened. I didn't receive a call from the counsellor. There was no message or chat or email. Nothing.

I rang another helpline but they only deal with suicide and not really other crisises.

I feel so lost and torn and broken. Just broken. Scared. Sick.

Thinking about calling back the samaritans again but I don't know. It's a listening service. I need a guidance.

Is there any emergency counselling online.

So sorry to hear this @floraldesignDo you work? If so, do they have an employee assistance programme that you can phone for help and can set something up quickly for you?

Are there any more details you do feel comfortable sharing? There might be subject specific options.

There is but I doubt I will be able to get anything for tonight or tomorrow morning.

Honestly have you tried ai on google or chat gpt? I actually found it incredibly useful and practical.

Works really well as a stop gap whilst you are waiting for real life help

Call the EAP. They may be able to get something in place for tomorrow. I know that is a few hours away but knowing there is potentially help may allow you to feel a little calmer.

Mind do an overnight service I believe again not qualified counsellors but I think they can refer you on. Could you afford to book
in with a private counsellor look on counselling directory.

I am not able to get into the employee assistant programme due to changing phones and the auth app not working

Are you working? Does your workplace have an employee assistance program that you can access for counselling etc?

https://www.thespark.org.uk/counselling/fast-access-single-session-therapy/. Is this any good? If not Shout does text support?

I second this I was really surprised by how helpful it was

firstly, ask them about what's available because it's quite likely they'll identify some local service that's hidden away

Maybe
Ask them to do you a kind of workbook format for the particular situation you're in

I'm very sorry you're struggling 💐

Another big benefit with AI as you can say to it "don't suggest XYZ"

Counselling service services often go down the path that you may not want to go down and you can tell AI that you don't want to and you would like an alternative or just want to reject that bit of what they're saying

floraldesign · 31/07/2026 23:28

The EAP is 48 hours for an initial phone call and you to 5 days for an appointment. I need something urgent

Sorry to hear you are feeling broken, OP. Could you perhaps identify the rough nature of your crisis which might give us ideas on who could help you?

e.g. that it is broadly a “serious mistake at work” or “misguided relationship” or “victim of fraud” or “got arrested” or “parenting crisis” etc etc?

Whatever it is, I hope it isn’t as bad as you fear.

How are you OP? Have you had any luck with sourcing some support?

There is but I doubt I will be able to get anything for tonight or tomorrow morning.

Many of the EAP services do offer 24 hour support.
