Character reference for a social housing offer?

Hello everyone, we've been offered social housing and we are very grateful for that, but we now have to submit a character reference.

My partner works full time but his manager is now off for 10 days, and other than that he keeps himself to himself so doesn't go to any activity clubs or anything like that. Basically it's work, looking after our child, and grocery shopping - rinse and repeat 😅 I don't work as I care for our disabled child so I can't ask an employer for a reference either.

Is there anyone else who we could ask for a character reference? Anyone else who has been offered social housing recently - who did you use as a character reference?

I know it’s the holidays but you could email your child’s school as the admin staff are likely to be on a rota monitoring the emails.

Do you go to church eg vicar? Or Mosque or other place of worship?

if you can’t get anyone immediately id say message the Ha and explain this chap is on holiday.

I may be wrong but I think asking a long standing friend is fine. It doesn’t have to be anyone in a position of authority.

Where do you live now as current landlord would also be an option - assuming you’ve been good tenants!

A current neighbour? Does DC have a disability social worker? Do you have any friends you could ask (understand that may not be likely with caring full time)
Does DC go to any support groups which have staff?

Thanks everyone, called the housing officer today and they confirmed it has to be from his work place manager or HR just to prove his job is steady and not likely to lose it any time soon (he's been there 4 years so unlikely 😅) and he's given the housing officer the managers email and the HR email. They have said if it doesn't get back to them for a week or two it'll still be fine as we've passed all other requirements and the house is currently undergoing some renovations so won't be ready for a few weeks anyway. What a relief!

That’s not a character reference though. They are using that term incorrectly.
Also, any HR reference is not going to have any standing in terms of the security or longevity of his job, they just wouldn’t commit themselves in that way.
They could confirm he works there, the date he started , on what basis, eg full time/part time, plus his salary if that is required.
