Advice on tanning solution for VERY pale white girly

I am unbelievably pale. Actual snow white, can see my blue veins in my skin pale. Particularly my legs. Dont tan, dont burn they just reflect sunlight. I often wear tan coloured tights but they are clearly tights as the white shines through.

I have recently tried dove gradual tan and found that it felt like it looked like the tan was on top of the white (does that even make sense) and looked kind of yellowy brown. So I looked dirty pale!
I dont want to have a spray tan cos I want a longer term solution I can do at home and dont feel I want my whole body tanning necessarily. I dont want to look brown just not like Casper. I wouldnt know how to begin looking after a spray tan and my husband's ex did spray tans and ruined multiple bedsheets so hes against the idea.

Anyway, Im looking for advice or product recommendations or anything for a pale white girly. I have a dress for my cousins wedding that has a slit on each side of my legs and want them to look just...normal 😅

Look for yourself, it's widely available. Sunbeds emit high intensity UV radiation and are classified a group 1 carcinogen by the W.H.O. The medical consensus is absolute: any tan acquired from ultraviolet (UV) radiation is a direct sign of cellular damage rather than health.

I’m currently on day 3 of using the soap & glory gradual tan moisturiser vanilla for light / fair skin. Smells lovely and seems to be doing something as I don’t look like a ghost anymore

St tropez watermelon gradual tan is really good and smells great. I'm also very pale with cornbeef legs and this gives me a really natural looking tan. Also use Sally Hanson leg make up when I need an instant glow.

Clarins tanning drops. Add it to the moisturiser of your choice.

Looks great on me - so pale I'm blue tinged.

Another vote for garnier gradually tan in light. This year ive used the sally hanson leg make up, and st tropez wash off tan, for instant results if going out. Both wash off

Why do people think that there is something wrong with pale skin?

I have freckles and very pale skin and I like it.

I have no interest in being orange and having to hide my natural skin tone.

I find it sad that so many women think they have to be covered in fake tan and foundation to look good.

Legs are a really tricky area! I tan well on my upper body (but use sun screen consistently nowadays to protect my skin) but my legs? Nope- milk bottle white. They don’t tan/don’t burn. I look really odd with my upper half having colour and my lower half being so pale 🤣 I also have dark hair so have to shave them regularly if Ive got them out/stubble quickly shows. Dove gradual tan seems to have changed as it’s not as effective now. Used bondi sands express recently and it was really good.

I don't look orange thanks, it makes me look less dead.

I'm sick of dealing with the "oh my god are you OK, you look really ill" comments. I've had it for 40 odd years and it gets wearing.

So a slight tint of not-blue from time to time helps with sanity, especially when not blessed with freckles and preferring not to wear any make up.

I have looked. I’m asking you to show me something that changes my mind from what I’ve read and experienced.

I’ll be fair, I think “safe” is probably a misleading word in the same way that sitting in the sun isn’t safe either. I don’t sunbathe and when I’m outdoors I keep covered and wear SPF 50. For me, this approach works better than spending time lying in the garden, which I don’t and won’t do but many do. My risk is managed and reasonable. I see less sun than most.

That’s great for you and I’m happy for you that you’re comfortable. We don’t all think the same as you… and that’s ok. It’s not always about accepting yourself. I dye my hair too.

Another vote for Bondi Sands. I like to use the gradual tanner too to keep it topped up.

Gatineau is lovely and looks really natural. Smells great! It's pricey but they do run offers, I keep an eye and stock up with a deal.

It's not a gradual tan, it's a mousse that you leave on for 1- 3 hours and then wash off. Lasts about a week for me. Very natural/subtle

Garnier gradual tan (the ‘dark’ on which isn’t dark at all) is the best and cheapest for me.

Exfoliate like buggery, moisturise knees, feet and elbows then stand like a scarecrow listening to a podcast in the bathroom until a kid knocks on the door cos they want another wee.
Then sit on the bed procrastinating before sleeping on an old Ikea children’s duvet cover so your bed doesn’t resemble the Turin Shroud.
Wake up and - hey presto! - I don’t look too dead.

Repeat twice a week until you forget what your actual skin tone looks like and you can gaslight yourself you look ‘healthy’.

I’ve tried all sorts from spray tans to expensive self-tanners but the Garnier one is normally £6 on Amazon and my favourite.

Urgh, the ‘why not stay pale’ people can just fuck off - your opinions aren’t wanted on this thread! I look and feel a million times better with a tan - what is wrong with that?

op I use St Moritz which is great - it’s cheap and easy to use with mitt, doesn’t go on sheets / clothes and is a great colour on a fellow ghost. It’s about £8 a bottle so if you don’t like it, at least you haven’t spend much. good luck and hope you find one you like - and ignore the pasty killjoys

As a man I think Fake tan looks silly (and im not the only man to hold that opinion) and I've always preferred natural skin tone. Im very white and so is my Girlfriend but I love her skin tone. You should be proud of your european herritage

Another vote here for Bondi Sands. I've been using Gradual Tanning Lotion, doesn't come off once applied. It does smell like cocoa though, which I like!

As a man, I think fake tan looks great (and I'm not the only man to hold that opinion). I'm very white, don't feel the need to be 'proud' of my heritage, what even IS that? I use fake tan myself, my current favourite, OP, is Isle of Paradise medium tanning drops, mixed in with moisturiser which I have to use every day anyway (to fend off eczema) so I might as well get a bit of colour so my veins aren't so much on show. Maybe 4 drops per leg! I never do my face bc that's the only part of me that is a little bit brown, so I just kinda level up the rest. Nothing extreme, that would look weird on me. Cheers me right up.

I hate these sanctimonious posts like these. I rarely wear make up but I don’t post on make up threads telling women they should accept their make up free faces. Of course we should have confidence in ourselves but it’s not always that deep. Women have the choice of making small non invasive decisions about temporarily changing elements of your appearance. Gradual/fake tan isn’t damaging - OP won’t come to any harm. All skin shades are beautiful but women also have the choice to change their appearance if they chose without judgement.

We don’t care.
