It’s been insane.

There’s been a proper smear campaign against and everything. Harassment. Contacting my family. Police are now involved. It’s BAD.

It’s mostly been because I’m autistic and my partner is trans. There’s probably other reasons why they just don’t like me.

HR have cleared me of any wrongdoing- no evidence, which checks out because none of the stuff actually happened.

But they’re moving me to another site ‘for my own safety’.

It’s fine. I have another job lined up and I’m going to have a few weeks to myself before I start it.

I’m okay. But WTF?

How does this shit still happen? It’s so Mean Girls. I’m in my 40s…

Please tell me about the cunty lil’ bullies you guys have worked with. Maybe we can turn this into group therapy.

I’d be talking to a ACAS/ a lawyer if I’d been mistreated at work and was forced to change department/position because of a disability/legally protected characteristic

I mean this politely OP, do you perhaps not understand how serious this is due to your autism? Do you have someone in your workplace or personal life who can advocate for you?

Are you in a Union ,they should be able to help.

I’m autistic. Mentioned it when I started a new job over a year ago because sometimes I can come across as a bit eccentric and I thought it was better out in the open.

I’ve worked in the same field for twenty seven years. It’s not ever been a problem.

Got called ‘s*zo’ because of it. A LOT.

I finally had enough and made a complaint to HR.

The result? A meeting with HR where they told me about about a program they have to support people with autism.

Okaaaay? I don’t need support, I would just like the slurs to stop if that isn’t too much trouble.

Nope. Managed out. Moved to another site which I can’t actually get to with the instruction to discuss with new manager the ‘reasonable adjustments’ I need in place to ‘manage my disability’.

Righto.

I have another job. It’s all okay. I’ll be short for a couple of months but it’ll be okay.

I don’t want to work somewhere that treats their staff this way.

Currently signed off with stress while the checks for the new job organise themselves.

I just needed to vent.

How does schizo relate to autism? I’m not being obtuse here, seriously. And have a child (adult) with ASD, so I’m not being ‘cute’ but they are completely separate things.

ETA - my child with ASD also has bipolar so it’s not like we don’t see overlaps with stuff, but still their ASD aspects have never been labelled as schizophrenia.

Get a solicitor - on a no win no fee (they do exist, I had one who was fabulous) you need an employment law solicitor .

Sounds like you have a very strong case if you want to take action

I was bullied out at the start of covid because I asked for a risk assessment. The organisation had decided to pretend it wasn’t happening.

I can’t imagine any workplace where someone repeatedly being called schizo wouldn’t be treated seriously. Was the individual put through disciplinary proceedings?

Schizophrenia is a medical condition. Lil’ abbreviations of it aren’t cute.

No, schizophrenia is a mental health condition. Nobody, but nobody, would refer to someone as 'a schizo' in a positive way, especially when in fact they don't have schizophrenia.
