Wedding gift?

How much would you spend on a wedding gift if you were just going to the evening do and paying to stay locally?

It’s only an hour away so staying over was our choice.

I’d say £50 if cash, though probably less for an actual gift if they have a gift list.

$1000 designer bag - obviously.

Ask if there is a gift list. If not I’d ask what they wish and prob about 75 pounds,depends on your income and what you can afford

£50-£80 from a couple depending on venue/ closeness to the couple. Thinking £150-£200 for full day, so just for evening less.

£50 if there’s a free bar
£5 if I have to buy the very expensive drinks!

£50 is what I spent in the past for an evening only invite though I didn’t have to pay for accommodation as local.

Depends on how much you like the couple and your relationship with them imo. Present giving shouldn't be transactional on whether you get a dinner or whatever, or though this seems the modern way. When I got married in the 80s I got gifts from people who weren't even invited, such as parent's friends and overseas family, they just wanted to express their happiness for me.

I haven’t seen a cheque book in years. I honestly didn’t know people still used them.

I would just give cash. They may never have seen a cheque and not know what to do with it (kidding obviously…)
