Gift for novice DIYer

Can anyone suggest a gift for my neice please?
She's just bought a house, it's not a doer upper but needs some tlc and she's dead keen to do as much as possible herself. She has a drill and sander and I was thinking of some other tools? About £50 - £100

It depends what work needs doing. Our first big tools were wallpaper steam stripper thing, pasting table, tile cutter, extending roller pole I suppose but a lot was on paint so a voucher might be better.

A stepladder might be good. I like a small light one I can lift with one hand. Screwdrivers, spanners and Allan keys are useful but we started out mainly with walls and floors.

Does she have basics like a set square, bubble level, plumb bob and measuring tapes? It is particularly worth spending money on levels and set squares as cheap ones may not be accurate.

A set of screwdrivers or one with interchangeable heads.

A non-contact voltage pen - really useful for testing if there is an electrical current in sockets and switches

Can you ask what the next job in mind is? Depends what will be useful soon. Might be a ladder is just the right thing, or that might not get used at all; or a jigsaw, or perhaps a youtube subscription to ditch the adverts?

It's mainly cosmetic, lots of painting, no wallpaper but I think she wouldlike to try some basic woodwork, put the odd shelf up.

Definitely one of those magnetic dish things to put screws and nails in / or find them when they do get dropped!

We’re currently renovating as DIY-ers and without a doubt, our Erbaur multi tool has been the most useful thing we’ve bought!

I would gift a screwfix voucher tbh

A full set of spanners and Allen keys in a case so they don’t get lost.
An assorted pack of rawl plugs and matching screws. You can never have too many.
I have a flowery set of tools (very ladylike) and DH is always borrowing the lightweight claw hammer with a set of screwdrivers in the handle.
A head torch, protective gloves and safely glasses. Or even a pair of safety shoes?

As a keen, albeit quite novice and amateur DIYer who is learning as I go along, one thing I've discovered is that tools are as personal as jewellery / handbags / perfume etc.

If somebody bought me a flowery hammer, for example, I'm afraid to say it would most likely end up in the charity shop bag...

A good voucher (not B&Q, they're shit) is brilliant. Otherwise, Leatherman multitools are really good, but the best ones are really expensive and you run the risk of getting it it wrong - I'd say that money or vouchers were the better choice.

Ok for if you need to do a quick job - tightening a loose screw or something at that level, but not really that good for bigger DIY jobs.
