I’m confused because since yesterday I’ve been passing big clots and I don’t know if it’s normal. Is it normal with a period? Or is it something else. I know something must be wrong as it’s unusual for me. Doctors don’t sound concerned but I am

I think it's normal. It's probably a decidual cast. Explanation here

Passing clots is normal for some women but it is not normal for you so yes it warrants attention.

How much are you losing? How often do you need to change? Any chance you could have been or might be pregnant? Do you feel otherwise well? How long have you been bleeding?

Rose1x · 30/07/2026 17:59

I’ve passed two big clots in past 2 days, bleeding isn’t that heavy. Having to change pad like every hour sometimes longer. Pregnancy tests are negative but there could’ve been a chance I was pregnant but tests seem to be negative so maybe not. I’ve been bleeding for 6 days now

Every hour is quite a lot and near the threshold for being seen but it sounds like you've seen a doctor. Is 6 days a normal duration for you?

Clots shouldn't be bigger than a 10p. At my worst, I was losing dozens of cricket ball clots. Usually 4 or 5 an hour. I ended up in a bit of a pickle!

I'd monitor it over the next 24hrs. If you need to change your protection more than hourly or it doesn't slow down, seek help again immediately. Ditto, any pain, fever or feeling unwell.
