Apologies I'm sure this has probably been done to death but I would love to hear other people's health tips/ hacks to feeling better generally.

I'm 39, couple stone overweight, probablt drink too much and stay up too late and knackered from young kids and work etc.

I really want to feel better, more energy, improve my health. Would love to hear any changes people have made that have helped. I'm drawn to easy things like supplements 🤣 but realise probably more to it than that!

So this week i am aiming for four nights no alcohol, bought some Lions Mane (?) Supplement, ate some kimchi, drinking moee water. Appreciate there's no quick fix but would love to hear any things people in a similar position have found that helped.

I think the biggest thing that will make a difference is getting enough sleep. This coming from an insomniac! 😅Getting a good nights sleep makes you feel so much better mentaly and physicaly. You have so much more energy to tackle the rest of your list.
Maybe instead of going in hard and I want to lose X stone/diet, think about what you could eat instead that will make you feel better. Can you eat more fruit, more veggies?
Your gaols for this week sound healthy, I'm sure they will help. Good luck I wish you well in your goals.

Four nights drinking alcohol really shouldn’t be a big deal. If you’ve been drinking most nights look into taking vitamin B supplements.

Drinking more water, stopping alcohol and getting enough sleep are easy quick fixes.

You need to cut out alcohol completely or just make it a once a week treat. Sorry if that's not what you want to hear. Times have changed now and the advice from the 80s of 'two alcoholic drinks a day is healthier than none' is outdated.

Alcohol is now linked to seven different cancers, you don't even have to exceed the 14 units a week to be at risk.

I speak from bitter experience.

I started logging everything I eat and drink on my fitness pal. It really makes me understand/ be accountable for what I’m eating and drinking in a day.
Try having fat free yogurt, frozen berries, chai seeds and honey for breakfast or lunch. Low fat, good for you and keeps you really full so stops snacking.

Having a good sleep routine
Taking a 10-20 minute walk after each meal
Most food as single ingredient type minimally processed foods
Resistance train either 15 minutes each day or an hour twice a week

Thank you! And yes sleep definitely needs to be sorted - just bought myself a new book for some reading before bed. You're right about making changes manageable.

Yeah I do get where people coming from on the alcohol. Had fallen into a bad habit of almost a nightly glass of wine - one to sort.

I really recommend getting a fitness ring. Oura, Rinconn, etc. I have one and the results have really opened my eyes about what alcohol does to my sleep and general well-being.
