Would moving from GCSEs to Scottish Nat 5s be manageable?

Question for folk with secondary education experience both sides of the border: Would an academically-average 15-y-o leaving England after one completed year of GCSE study (no exams yet taken) & entering a Scottish high school at the start of S4/start of Nat 5 year cope/adapt ok? Or are the curricula so different up to that point that the pupil would struggle to hit the ground running?
