How are your summer holidays going?

Not too bad here - my dd is nocturnal and we go to bed at around 3am and wake up for 11

(She is autistic at 7, so this is normal for us when out of school)

Managed to pop out today, for a wee train ride - she had enough by the end and got distressed, which is unusual for her, bless her

We're going to Brittany and staying in a Eurocamp - pool on site and stones throw from a beach so it's perfect for the little ones.

While I'm working it's a mix of nursery (for the youngest), grandparents and DH who's off the week before we go away.

It's been great planning days out doing things that DD (she's 4 but an August baby so just finished reception) loves - theme parks, farms, splash parks, dinosaurs - and having lazy days at home (like today, although she wants to 'do some science' apparently so I'm googling how to do those homemade volcanoes 😆)

Very busy working. DD is a uni student but as we had no idea when she would be home, we only booked a family trip for end of August and some days visiting family mid-August.

She volunteers and helps at home and is sorting out a stint at a uni abroad for next year.

DH had some health issues, so we were stuck at home for quite a long time, only started doing shorter day trips recently.

Off on Friday doing some London sightseeing (we live there but found some gems we have never done), maybe a garden/park to visit on Sunday.

I must admit, on one hand I loved the days with a primary school child in the holidays, on the other hand, I am glad I don't have to wonder what to do anymore.

We managed a trip to the swimming pool today, mcdonalds and then onto Coal Drops Yard in Kings Cross

Its great for kids, theyve got water fountain things in the ground for kids to play in, and an outdoor cinema playing kids fims (today was Chicken Run). Was very busy but not overwhelmingly so - dd did like the water fountains

Spent 7.10 on an apple juice from Joe and the Juice bar, at dd's request for a 'smoobie' which just means blended apple

Did she drink it? Did she even try it? Nope 😩😩

Before that I spent £5 on strawberry ice cream which she refused

£12 wasted! 😄

Then to Asda for sweeties - theyve got football themed maoams for 50p, over half price, if you can find them

Still nocturnal 😩

I could t choose between loving life and not a parent to school age kids - because both apply to me!

I work in schools and so work term time only.

So I’m enjoying what is my summer holiday!

DS (21) is around between what he’s doing and we spend time together

We're five weeks into the holidays in Ireland. They are back in less than 4 weeks!

The eldest was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in April, so the holidays have really just been a chance to try to settle into a new way of life. Hes doing really well.

Due to this, we didn't book a summer holiday, were waiting till autumn and spring when it will be cooler.

They've had plenty of pool days in the garden and made a makeshift tennis court. The puppy has also kept them occupied.

We haven't really planned days out, which I feel guilty about. But then I remember summer holidays when I was a child and being happy at home and I think they'll be ok. They seem perfectly happy and relaxed.

Youngest didn't want to do any summer camps and doesn't seem to regret his decision.

No judgement at all! We've been out all day - the last of my week off days out - so no screens... but fully expecting plenty tomorrow to recover 😆

I’ve got little ones, 4 and 1, so it’s my last summer before my eldest starts school 😭 he is the most fantastic company and we’ve such a lovely life so I’m really dreading it and as such, making the most of our summer. Well, I was… we currently all have a sickness bug 😂
