I'm awaiting appointment into a new role as a manager with a respectable payrise but it includes line management which is new to me.
Whilst I've managed and arranged lots of things like police search / arrest operations with 100 officers and been a mentor and tutor multiple times I've never been a line manager of people with HR responsibilities etc. I'm not in the police anymore but it's an adjacent type role, sort of in investigations of a sort.
Anyone out there willing to share any advice for the newbie?
I'm in my 40s, I am absolutely shit at asking for help and have a tendency to hoard tasks rather than delegate then panic when I'm overwhelmed....
