Forest Fires in France- where to go instead?

I'm looking for some advice. We were due to stay in Arcachon from Friday for 8 days. Due to the awful devastating forest fires that looking increasingly unlikely. We are weighing up the idea of still flying into Bordeaux but then driving somewhere 2-4 hours north of bordeaux and holidaying there.

So I have two questions does anyone with local knowledge of the area know how easy it is to drive north from the airport (concerned about road closures due to the fire)?

Secondly any suggestions of places to look at 2-4 hours north of Bordeaux, that are unaffected by smoke and fires.
Honestly I would happily cancel the whole thing and go somewhere else, but unfortunately due to our insurance not refunding us (they'll only refund if FCDO says do not travel and that's not going to happen) we would like not to lose the flight money as well!

Really grateful for all help from people with good knowledge of France, obviously I've spent tens of hours looking at the news so I am aware of the general situation so I don't need that.

Many Thanks in Advance & if any of you responding or reading are local to the areas affected by forest fires our thoughts are with you at this awful time.

I wouldn't be thinking of flying into Bordeaux at all, let alone finding the best route out of it.
They are asking holidaymakers not to come.
It's all far from ideal I know (the understatement of the year) but you need to try and rearrange your flights/significantly alter your plans.

Sorry - that sounded harsh. It really wasn't meant to.
I'm sorry you're in such a difficult situation and I really hope it works out for you.
