Prince Harry lol

Are you my sister getting excited that her son is coming home after a year working abroad?

Jux · 28/07/2026 13:38

He’s an ex of dd’s. It was so wonderful to see him. He spent most of the time in our nearby city with dd, and they’ve gone there now to hang out a bit more together before he continues on his travels and finally goes back to the far east. We didn’t actually see a lot of him because he’s here primarily to see dd as they continued as friends. It’s been 3 years since I last saw him and they were still together, but split not so long after. They met at Uni, but when he graduated his Visa was no longer valid and he had to go back home 🥲

Anyway I’ve seen the adorable chap now, and I’m sure I’ll see him again. He’s still adorable and delightful.

Is that you, Mrs Robinson?

sweetpickle2 · 28/07/2026 13:42

Your favourite person in the whole world is your daughter’s ex boyfriend? Right.

Newstart3 · 28/07/2026 13:42

Erm is your DD not your favourite person In the world! Her ex .. that's weird

Bananacrepewithnuts · 28/07/2026 13:43

Oh dear.

Your daughter has moved on sounds like you need to.
😂

PartoftheBand · 28/07/2026 15:09

Do you honestly prefer him to your own DD?

Owly11 · 28/07/2026 15:20

I come on Mumsnet thinking I have seen everything and yet here we are.

purplecorkheart · 28/07/2026 15:24

Your daughter's ex is your favourite person in the world? I think you need to massively calm down or you will scare the wits out of the person.

Aposterhasnoname · 28/07/2026 15:37

OMG. This has to be a wind up, your DDs ex? Not your poor DD, your DDs ex. You're going to be one of these nightmare MILs constantly comparing DD future partner to her ex aren't you.

BallerinaFall · 28/07/2026 15:38

I have mother issues - but this is even more bizarre.

TisEye · 28/07/2026 15:39

I was not expecting that.

Drost · 28/07/2026 15:40

Your poor daughter

I'm sure your DD will be delighted to learn he's your favourite person in the whole world 😳

CitizenZ · 28/07/2026 15:43

And that is your favourite person in the whole world?

WTF?

TheChosenTwo · 28/07/2026 15:46

This is all just so strange!
I mean I get overexcited when my favourite aunt comes to stay, she’s like a second mum to me (I tell her more than I tell my actual mum!) and every year we both book a few days annual leave from work and she comes to stay, I get absolutely giddy, we walk, eat, drink, swim on repeat and I just feel like I glow in her company.
But a dc’s ex? I mean I liked dc1’s previous 2 partners, they were both very pleasant polite young men, nice company etc but when the relationships broke down I never saw them again which until now I thought was normal!

RoseField1 · 28/07/2026 15:48

What in the what now?

Whosthetabbynow · 28/07/2026 15:48

Santa?

Whosthetabbynow · 28/07/2026 15:49

Not normal surely

BeautifulViolets · 28/07/2026 15:50

Good grief 🙄

Whosthetabbynow · 28/07/2026 15:51

Glad you’re not my mother.

JoyousWriter · 28/07/2026 15:52

Here's to you...

ginasevern · 28/07/2026 15:53

That's a bit ....odd. I mean quite pleased to see him OK, but to be that excited and call him your favourite person in the whole world. Really?
