Whats going on with my body?

Me again! Ive posted before about coming off the pill and having faint lines in pregnancy tests. They are now negative have been for about a week now. But I've been doing ovulation tests during this time. Still no AF since coming off the pill. Just done an ovulation test and its positive again! This is the 3rd time its been positive. What's going on? Is this just my body trying to ovulate and failing or is something else going on?

When did you come off the pill? Which pill?

I was on progesterone only and my period returns almost exactly one month after stopping (all be it much lighter for the first few months) then first ovulation happened in the next cycle.

From what I understand it can be very different from person to person though and it's possible that it's deregulated your system. I have friends who took 6 months or so to return to normal cycles.

I came off the pill a little over 3 weeks ago and was the progesterone only pill.
Its confusing getting the positive ovulation tests at random days.
Of it is a month for me too then should be due on in about a week. I really hope it dosent take 6 months

Thats my thinking, its so frustrating

It's only been three weeks, I know it's been frustrating but it won't happen immediately.

I agree with pp, it's likely the test is measuring fluctuations in hormones rather then a proper ovulation as your body reverts back to your normal cycle. Hopefully it's a positive sign that things are quickly returning to normal.

Oh wow 3weeks? I’d stop the testing and forget about it for a bit. Took me a year to get back to normal. We’re all different 🤷🏼‍♀️

Oh how strange when I first came off the pill years ago I had a withdrawal bleed pretty quickly. I think I'm just comparing it to last time and getting myself worked up about it.

If you returned to normal quickly last time then hopefully it will be similar this time. It was the case with me two years apart.

SoLateToTheParty · 26/07/2026 17:22

Sounds like a reassuring sign with the odd positive ovulation tests, this happened to me in the first month of coming off, I ovulated the following month and month after and I’m now 24 weeks pregnant. Don’t lose hope, sounds very reassuring you were quick before and you are now to me getting positives already, it’s just taking some adjusting but stressing about it won’t help either, try to relax in this adjustment period and let your body come round to it :)

This might be a stupid question, but are you reading the ovulation test correctly? Is the test line darker than the control? Or are you just seeing 2 lines? Because two lines on an ovulation test doesn’t mean it’s positive unless the test line is darker.

But you only stopped the pill 3 weeks ago. Why are taking pregnancy tests? You couldn’t be pregnant at this stage. I wouldn’t even bother with ovulation tests either until you’ve actually had a period.

Beeeem · 26/07/2026 18:44

Have you got photos of your recent ovulation tests?

Definitely looking right, test line is same shade or darker then the control line. Only took pregnancy tests because ive been feeling quick sick. Although thinking about it its probably just my body adjusting
