I've just finished my first cuppa of the day, in my conservatory spot, after a nice long lie in with boy cat stretched his full length along my legs. They've both now had their breakfast, he's explored the open-ish window so much I closed it 🙄, and she's gone back to sleep on the cat tree.

Dd2's just come down to join me. She's planning to watch more of The Rookie with dd1 and do a bit more of the summer college work she has - I'm reasonably sure she's almost finished it already. She still needs to send me the reading list she has, and links to the folders she'd like (she likes to colour co-ordinate her studies).

I'm not sure what I'm doing yet. Probably more crochet and reading, plus directing a few garden jobs that I want done before green bin day on Friday. I'll have a walk to the shop for cat food to last til I do a shop too.

We're having roast pork for tea, and I might look for a no churn biscoff ice cream recipe for afters 🤔. I've been going to do this for weeks now!

What about all of you? 🙂

I've just been for a swim and driven DH to the airport who is off on holiday for 2 weeks hiking in the Alps with some friends. Very jealous.

I'm going for lunch with my mum with afternoon. It's very windy and grey and starting to rain so we'll probably sack off the walk and go for a coffee after instead.

Then I'm going to visit a friend and meet her new baby which will be lovely.

Heading to Harwich to get the ferry to Holland overnight for our holiday. We normally get to Europe via Hull-Rotterdam, we’re only about a hour from Hull, but it was £700 cheaper via Harwich- Hook of Holland!

OchreSwan · 26/07/2026 11:08

Good morning! I’ve been out for my run this morning, showered and hair washed, and now sitting with my coffee. Debating getting back into bed with DP who is still snoozing after a very late night. He works in live events and yesterday was the last day of their season so he was celebrating until the wee hours with his colleagues. I’m just pleased that this means I get him back to myself now after he’s been working all hours for the last few months!

We had talked about going down to a local music festival this afternoon but I suspect we may just stay in and enjoy a bit of quiet time. No idea what we’ll have for dinner, maybe I’ll see if we can get a rotisserie chicken to have with fresh baguette and salad. Hope you have a lovely day @lucysmamand all :)

mondaytosunday · 26/07/2026 11:10

Good morning!
Been down to feed the cats but back up (oh on cue the male has just appeared demanding cuddles) to bed. Now I’m scrolling. I’m on a two meals a day diet so trying to hold off first meal til noon at least. Today I’ve really got to get cracking to finish the throw I’m crocheting in my son’s team footie colours for his birthday this week. Bit of usual tidying and laundry and that’s it really. Slightly cooler today I’ll enjoy that!
Dinner will be big Caesar salad with South American spiced chicken thighs in a brioche bun. Yum!

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone. I was beginning to wonder where you were! Nice to know you actually had a lie in for a change.

My sister told me yesterday that she is in my part of the country this weekend and she hopes to pop in for coffee this afternoon on her way home - so this morning consists of doing a bit more housework than usual in preparation. We have a cleaner for 2 hours a fortnight - she does things like the floors and the bathrooms - but she was unwell last week so things aren't as clean as I would like.

The bathrooms are done, the kitchen surfaces are done, Mr Dilemma has hoovered the living room and the stairs, I need to clean the sink and Mr Dilemma will sweep the hard floors and spot clean anything that looks overly dirty.

I have taken a packet of M&S brownies out of the freezer and some of Mr Dilemma's home made flapjacks out of the cupboard, and that will be it - apart from the coffee of course.

I have a chicken carcass simmering away on the stove for stock, so my evening meal will either be chicken broth for me - if I'm still feeling urky - or cold chicken, salad and baked potato if I have my appetite back. Mr Dilemma will definitely have cold chicken and baked potato... his 'salad' will probably consist of some pickled beetroot.

I'm still waiting for my beetroot plants to become beetrooty - they seem to be taking a long time! My marrows are, finally, becoming marrowy, I harvested all the celery yesterday, and we have had 5 ripe cherry tomatoes so far, with lots more to come.

Have a lovely day everybody, or at least the best day possible.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 26/07/2026 11:44

Good morning lucysmam and others. I had a long lie until 7.20! Unheard of. I had dgs2 for a sleepover and we both slept well. Hes currently playing with his ipad before dsil picks him up. I've had 3 coffees and a croissant. He has eaten continously since he got up. Once he leaves I will potter about. Lunch will be sausages on a roll. Dinner will be quiche and salad. Enjoy your day all

I’m on a mission to get this house straight! Been in my sons room having a big sort out all morning, cleaned a bathroom, laundry is on the go and I’m about to start on DDs room.
I’m a teacher with 2 primary aged DC and we aren’t going away this summer so it’s been a bit of a lacklustre start to the holidays. I think starting the week with a clean, tidy house will be a good move.

Tiddlywinks63 · 26/07/2026 12:06

Good noonday to everyone, I’ve just sat down for the first time since I got up at 7.
I have finished rearranging and sorting out my bedroom, three big black bags ready for the collection on Wednesday, all wardrobes and drawers tidy, everything dusted and vacuumed and I. Am. Pooped.
i’ve taken two pretty bead necklaces to a little girl along the road, who was delighted, and had a chat with her lovely mum. If I come across any thing else I think she might like, I will drop that off too.
There’s beef bourginon in the oven ( reduced at M&S months ago and been in the freezer.), mash, peas and beans ready too.
DH has managed to pick some blackberries, I’ll make some sort of crumble with them for tomorrow and I really need to make banana bread with some blackening bananas.
That’s me done for today!

Hollyhobbi · 26/07/2026 12:08

Recovering from round one of my aunt and uncle’s 60 wedding anniversary weekend! It was worth driving up on what we call the bog roads! And it’s finally stopping raining which is a big plus!

Hollyhobbi · 26/07/2026 12:09

That should say 60th wedding anniversary!!

Crunchymum · 26/07/2026 12:15

We're on a complete go slow today.

DP and DC1 have gone shopping, they need a few bits for holiday but are both terrible shoppers so I'm not holding my breath.

DC2 has helped me strip and remake the beds and I'm on wash load number 2.

Shopping has just arrived so we're going to have roast chicken and all the trimmings for dinner. It's been so hot for so long I've been avoiding cooking things that require the oven on for hours but it's a bit gloomy and breezy today (set to go back to 30c from Tuesday though)

I did a massive bolognese yesterday and I'm going to do a pot of paprika chicken stew and my homemade tomato sauce today and this will stock the freezer. We go away weekend after next so I won't be batch cooking again until we are home in late August!

Will do a "platter" for lunch, DC3 is much more willing to eat salad when I serve it like a buffet 😊 so I'll put out some cucumber, celery, tomatoes and rocket with houmous, pitta, Italian ham and some grapes.

DC3 is reading a book she choose from the library. It's her first chapter book so I'm over the moon (she has SEN and has never shown any interest in chapter books).

Later will probably be a film and an early-ish night as I'm back to work tomorrow.

gingercat02 · 26/07/2026 12:28

Afternoon all. Looked for you earlier @lucysmam but you must have been in bed.
Not long back from my class, must be lunchtime, my stomach is rumbling

Its raining here, which is rather exciting for the garden. The yellow grass might go green again.
Hungarian F1 at 2, then out with my Mum for tea to a local Italian as she is away for DS birthday on Tuesday.
Home for a bit of tv and bed ready for Monday.

lucysmam · 26/07/2026 12:37

Ooh, dd1's just been down - she's stalking resale for today at Tramlines to see Wolf Alice headline & would I like to go if she can find two cheap tickets?! Obviously, yes! However, there are people with weekend tickets up for their full price still, so the finding of cheap tickets seems unlikely.

I've found the books I wanted, on Vinted, for a fiver for the full series (unless they've sold already). I'm now dithering over buying them because dd2 has offered me her shiny new Kindle to read them on her unlimited subscription 🤔. My kindle's ancient so rarely used. Don't know whether to buy or not now!

Giggorata · 26/07/2026 12:48

Good day lucysmam and all.
I would say definitely buy it! (But then I'm a bad influence)

I have spent some time listening to the Bach prom this morning, as I do a couple of hems.
Today we are having a grand freezer clear out, loathsome job, and then rewarding ourselves with strawberries and cream.
Nothing much planned for the evening. Dinner will involve beef in some form that was got out of said freezer. I think I'd like it cold with salad.
I'm also back in full yogurt production, so must remember to get a couple on ready for tomorrow.

lucysmam · 26/07/2026 13:02

I dithered so much they've sold 🙄. So that's that decision made.

The roast pork sounds wonderful- my favourite meal. I need to do some exercises for my gammy foot and sciatica. I also need to stop feeling sorry for myself and give myself a kick up.the ass and practise gratitude and mindfulness Confused

BCBird · 26/07/2026 13:08

Tiddlywinks I'm tired just reading your post. 🤣

vodkaredbullgirl · 26/07/2026 13:48

Recovered from yesterday's wedding, was a lovely day. Been to a vintage fair at the local private school. Bought loads my DD had to drag me away lol. Just got to sort out my garden finds, more plants and plant pots

frozendaisy · 26/07/2026 15:03

Afternoon afternoon

Obviously I managed to persuade H it was his turn to make coffee before @lucysmam was up! Good work

After 2 full days accommodating teenage boy activities it is a kitchen/F1 day today

Study/research books out on table, radio6 playing, youngster out, eldest online-something

Friday pizza for dinner (as couldn’t do it Friday) to add to the growing “what day is it” holiday confusion.

A happy Sunday all

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 26/07/2026 15:07

Good afternoon @lucysmam & everyone. Having a late lunch as I didn’t have brekkie (a bacon sandwich) until gone 11. My first Sunday off in about a month so it was lovely to have a cuppa in bed with DH who is also off. Sunday is his only day off actually. I may have had a figroll or two as well. Sorted some washing including blasting the duvetset & DH’s shirts at 60, loaded the dishwasher (needs to go on again as I mainly put pans & baking trays in) & tweaked the meal plan that I did last night. Need to update the shopping list based on that. Will hang a load of washing out if the rain holds off. It’s been cloudy here in Cornwall but sun & blue skies atm. Very breezy which is great to dry the clothes. I’m a bit sleepy as had to get up in the night again with this blessed cramping. Driving me potty! Visited DM & DF after brekkie. Lovely to see them although it was like Sleepy Hollow! DF is on some cancer medication which is exhausting him. I worry so much about him driving but there’s no telling him. DD17 has phoned & we had a good chat. No plans for this afternoon. Really should upload more stuff onto Vinted. I won’t earn anything if it stays in the bags & piles! Having the steaks for tea that were supposed to be barbecued last night. Also chips, peas & breaded garlic mushrooms if we have any. DH is watching The Tour de France. I have no interest whatsoever! It makes him happy though 🚴🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️

lucysmam · 26/07/2026 15:15

Total change of plans for the afternoon...we're off to Tramlines for less than £20 each 🎶. I'm just waiting on dd putting her DM's on her feet & grabbing a hoodie then we're off.

Afternoon everyone. Was up at 5am, as a ball
of anxiety again! My life would be so much easier if it wasn't for anxiety- all based around work.

Had coffee and watched 2 episodes of a comedy me and dp are watching. Then went over my late fathers house to see what has to be sold/scrapped before renovating. Dp is all into it, I just want someone to wave a magic wand and it all be done! The spiralling costs are making me queasy!

Came home, loaded and put on the dishwasher and washing machine, and popped a pasta bake in the oven. I'm currently on MN whilst dp watched the F1. Ds1 is gaming and probably talking to his gf who lives in Germany and ds2 has taken me car to visit friends. Have to think about packing as I'm away Tuesday to Friday for work this week- could do do without it.

I'm in the US so it's still morning, and I am having my third cup of coffee with a doughnut (Sunday treat for DH and me). He is packing a cooler for lunch as DS and teen granddaughter are picking him up in a few minutes to go fishing in DS's boat for most of the afternoon (my idea of hell particularly as it is so hot). I'm planning to stay inside with the A/C (except for a short walk with DDog) read, perhaps watch a bit of TV, and otherwise do nothing. I'm recently retired, and I find doing nothing in particular to be a wonderful pastime, especially when I have the house to myself (along with the dog) for a few hours.
