I have this thing where I burp a lot and the doc gave me something . It's gasless though and she is going to see if have a virus /bacatia begining with h polori ? That's two weeks away and I've had this for a long time.

This am I gobbled down some yogurt and banana and it felt like it was going down to slowly I didn't choke I could breathe but I felt v uncomfortable and worried for a few mins.
I thought it was because the yogurt is thick and dry ! Greek !
Anyway just went for lunch and the same thing happens and now I'm v worried . Mananaged half a sandwich chewing really well and water
I feel congested in the left side .I'm supposed to be going away tomorrow and I'm worried

I'm also on strong antibiotics and can't eat two hours either side of them for somerhng else.

Pretty standard for gastric reflux contact the pharmacist to see if one of the medications is making the issue worse.

You might have a hiatus hernia. I sometimes get a sensation of food balling up in my throat, but its only with chips or very fresh bread. Its also not every time, but I wonder if my stomach returns to normal and just does it occasionally? It feels like it gets stuck and won't move down. Sometimes I've had to be sick to get it out, otherwise it almost feels like choking.

I also get reflux and was treated for h-pyloric 15yrs ago. I still get reflux though and asked my GP to re-test for it- but they refused!

after many years of bad reflux I had an incident that was very similar to a heart attack but was spasms, I was diagnosed with Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EoE) and a large hernia plus the reflux.

it needed biopsy and scope into stomach to diagnose. Diary is a large trigger for me.

@7238SM any idea what I can do to calm it down ? I think not eating makes it worse and I'm on strong ppi but that seems to have kicked off the swollowing I'm scared to eat.

Oesophageal stricture is a possibility

UnderThePressure · 25/07/2026 18:31

I had similar symptoms like this, I thought it was anaphylaxis caused by a cat allergy.
I went to an ENT consultant and had a gastroscopy, blood tests and various ultrasounds.
I was diagnosed with a sliding hiatus hernia, Eosinophilic Esophagitis, Laryngopharyngeal reflux and muscle tension dysphonia.
I was then also referred in to an immunologist and was also diagnosed with Mast Cell Activation Syndrome.
I take acrivastine anti histamine, famotidine and Cromolyn sodium and I also have an epi pen.

Inastatus · 25/07/2026 18:40

@Whatswrongwithmeq - I had similar - not the gasless burps or reflux but the food going down slowly/getting stuck. I almost choked a few times, it was scary. I saw a consultant and was diagnosed with eosinophilic esophagitis. I take Omeprazole once a day which has sorted it out.
