What symptoms did you all suffer with when you had low folate or ferritin please? I am on an iton liquid daily but taking forever to come up as my ferritin is always on low end. Ive recently had b12 injections and read that i should've been taking folic acid at the same time but my dr didnt agree. My folate was 7 something when starting the b12 injections and had dropped after.my symptoms are :
Breathlessness/air hunger even at rest
Exhasuted
No energy
Body aches
Cramps
Vision not great (had eyes tested lots)
Palpitations
Anxiety
Panicky/irritable
Finding evrrything overwhelming
Brain fog
Derealization

I have low ferratin (6) and low vit d but normal b12. That said, I would argue that my b12 absorption is probably low as well.
I was exhausted, always tired but not sleeping well, brain fog, trouble keeping track of conversation etc, my joints ached and my periods had pretty much disappeared. I thought I was menopausal.
I've been taking a ferritin tablet for 3 weeks and the aching and hurting has mostly stopped. I'm still tired if I overdo things because I feel like I have energy, so am realising that I need to pace myself with physical stuff.
I am medicated for anxiety so not sure if that was getting worse.
Hope you see improvement soon. It would be worth going back and pushing for different ferritin therapy if you're not starting to see improvement yet.

My ferritin is fine but I had a severe B12 and folate deficiency. I had most of those symptoms, particularly

Breathlessness/air hunger even at rest
Exhasuted
No energy
Body aches
Cramps
Palpitations
Finding everything overwhelming

Plus my tongue turned almost black (see beefy tongue)

It is normal to take B12 and folate together, but the key word is together. Folate alone masks but does not address a B12 deficiency so you still have the megaloblastic anaemia from lack of B12 which can then progess to something very serious without you being aware of it. That may be where your GP is coming from.

What is your Hb? I was anaemic in my 20's with an Hb of 9 and ferritin of 2. I was working shifts full time but also partying and just not eating enough meat. I assume my symptoms were the anaemia, not solely from the low ferritin.
-Tried and would nap when I got in from work. Something I never needed to do beforehand
-recurrent UTI's
-Unusual food cravings. I could eat 500g of cherries in one sitting and would crunch ice constantly
-Always felt cold
-Doing light exercise made be short of breath and dizzy

Red blood cells take 3mths to replicate so its not a quick fix. Many liquid iron supplements are just that, a supplement for maintenance and won't correct deficiency, but depends what your Hb is?
