Where are my glasses?

Semi-lighthearted 😄

I’ve struggled to find glasses that suit me for years so refused to wear them. Unfortunately my sight has gotten worse so I now rely on them. Finally found a pair in Vision Express which I actually want to wear and I think suit me well. This is relevant as they were literally the last pair in the whole country according to the sales person, so I couldn’t even get a second pair and they are worth more than Elon Musk at this point.

I’ve had them two months and they have barely left my face they are so comfortable. I put them on my bedside every single night without fail. The last time I saw them I had dozed off with them on in bed and, in my half asleep state, popped them on the bedside where they clattered off somewhere. I am rather attention deficit though so can’t trust my memory, but DH remembers this happening too.

I’ve looked thoroughly around my bedside, DH side, ripped the room apart and they are not there. We have a 4 year old who is a kleptomaniac so checked his room and playroom, the garden, both toilets. Checked bags, all of the car pockets, office desk, drawers in living room, the sides. They’ve just poofed right out of existence.

Any out of the box ides?

Have you shaken out the duvet? I sometimes put mine on the bed absent-mindedly if I’ve put them on in the morning then taken them off to read my phone (can see close up). By the way it’s taken me 15 years (or however long smartphones have been around) to realise that if I have knocked them off the bedside cabinet and can’t see them on the floor or surrounds I can use my phone camera to see clearly with it held close to my face - I’m EXTREMELY short-sighted and this has been a bit of a game changer as I certainly can’t see them on the floor otherwise.

Have you checked the fridge? Seriously though, as someone who loses things constantly, especially my glasses. Start with obvious places and check really well. Then think about logical, but unusual places like the bathroom or in coat pocket. Then move on to totally crazy places like the fridge. Work methodically and exclude a room at a time.

Are they on your head? Behind the curtains/caught up in the fabric?

Wedged between the mattress and bed?

Wedged between the bed and wall at the top?

Tucked between pillows?

In a slipper or shoe?

Can't help with finding them but if you check your receipt, or ask Vision Express for the make and model code for the frame, you'll probably find them on ebay. It may have been the last pair with Vision Express but it will be available elsewhere.

Check under your bed (if that is possible with your type of bed).

Remove duvet and all pillows and shake them all out.

Check bathroom - window sill, cabinet, shower including any storage units for products

Were you reading / scrolling before bed? Where did you put your book / phone down before you fell asleep?

@DanaScullysLegoHair - these suggestions are great. It's like we're all living the same lives.

Hope you find them @ChaosQueenDarkfang

Towel rail in the bathroom.

ChaosDreamV2 · 25/07/2026 16:35

Mine have ended up in between the mattress and bed frame a couple of times! Check there ☺️

StormGazing · 25/07/2026 16:39

Ask your dead relatives to find them and put them somewhere you can find them … sounds daft but I did this with my glasses and they turned up on the microwave 10 days after losing them … bizarre!! 👻

limetrees32 · 25/07/2026 16:46

If you do find them you could get a firm that does 3 d printing to replicate the frame ?

DuckyLuck · 25/07/2026 19:29

I just found mine on the garden table (the one on the top patio)?

DontrockthecaravanGeoffrey · 25/07/2026 20:06

Are they in the turn up of your pyjama leg or your dressing gown pocket?
Did they bounce and go under the bed?
Do you have a dog who chews things?

stample · 25/07/2026 20:41

bedside table have a lip as such so things can effectively fall behind and go underneath?
failing that have you tried….
wedged between the wall and bedside table or bed
laundry basket
windowsill
on top of wardrobe (dh always puts things there and forgets)
pocket of coat/cardigan/hoody/dressing gown
where your handbags are kept (not necessarily in one)
make up bag/ drawer
fallen into a shoe
underneath the sofa
behind the microwave (you’ll be surprised how many things we find there)
Next to or behind the lamp
junk drawer or any drawer for that matter

Dc have any toys that have openings or pyjamas cases?
amongst dc clothes or role play toys

orangehandles · 25/07/2026 23:49

I usually find mine hanging over the radiator in the bathroom.

OuEstLaPlage · 25/07/2026 23:56

lift the mattress they may be in between the mattress and the frame

IdenticalHandTwin · 26/07/2026 00:26

Have you got a friend who's pinched them? I remember that thread about a CF who blatantly stole an expensive pair of designer specs and wore them in photos 😅
