I think I've had them since I was 10, I'm 50 now. At first without the pain just the other symptoms, extreme fatigue, weak arms and legs, cold extremities, then the pain started when I was about 16.
I've never been able to have proper job because over 20 days each month were migraine days. I got some reprieve when I was pregnant or breastfeeding, I don't smoke, drink, have caffeine or sweetener, my diet is good (boring) I've spent most of my life in bed with a bucket, I've tried tens machines, Ice packs, acupuncture, piercings, reiki, reflexology, meditation, curable app. I've tried all the meds, most didn't work, but a combination of topirimate propranolol and zomig lessened them slightly and at least I could potter and stay out of a darkened room.
At the beginning of the year the Neurologist prescribed Atogepant and the pain has gone completely. I am just left with the symptoms I had when I was 10yrs old, so I can tell when I've got a migraine, but no pain, I'm just exhausted, weak, and maybe a little nauseous. I still can't live a "normal" life and I still sleep more than the average person, but I'm enjoying not having pain for the first time in 40years. So please keep going back to your Drs and insist in seeing the Neurologist, I had to try so many meds that had to fail before they would prescribe the atogepant.
