Planning a last minute trip to Glasgow for the Commonwealth Games

Flying from London Early Thurs to return late Sat. Planning to see some less popular/more niche sports where tickets are still available and not too expensive.

Hopefully also do parkrun whilst there.

Naturally, having left it to the last minute, accomodation is looking expensive.

Any tips on where to base ourselves and how best to travel around the city?

Am I going to have to consult AI? 🤣

It depends where in Glasgow your events are taking place. One of the arenas is on the east, another is on the west. They’re not all in the same place.

i think either suck up the cost of expensive accommodation in the city centre or maybe consider staying somewhere like Stirling and getting the train in/out of Glasgow. Edinburgh will be as expensive as it's always more expensive than Glasgow and festival season is upon us.
Most the parkruns are accessible by public transport.
This doesn't look too bad for the price The Z Hotel Glasgow, Glasgow (updated prices 2026) and it's very central.
or Glasgow City Centre (George Square) Hotel | Premier Inn
Glasgow has an underground tube (the clockwork orange) which is basically a circular route with trains running in each direction, a good suburban train network and buses. From the airport you take the bus into the city centre.
