HelloFresh weekly cost and meal options for a fussy eater

Lots of people are talking about. Hello, fresh, but I have never tried it. And I want to know how much you have to spend per week? And I do believe you have to spend a minimum of 35 pounds. And if you compare that to buying the ingredients from the supermarket for a week, I think it would come to a lot more than this, so I'm curious to know something about it. And what sort of meals they provide, because I'm quite a fussy eater

I'm a fussy eater, I don't like most meats or fish or very spicy things. I've tried both Hello Fresh and Gousto but ran out of meal options after 3 or 4 weeks. I guess if you found a few you liked you could just keep repeating them but to me it didn't seem worth it. I tried pasta dishes, naan bread pizzas, cherry tomato risotto etc, they were all nice enough but not worth the money or the faff of actually having to cook.

Too expensive was our verdict after a month.

We've always found them way more expensive than just buying the ingredients in the supermarket, and the portions are quite small and lots of plastic waste. However, we think the recipes are quite good and are all available on their website, so sometimes I just look on there for ideas and follow the recipes but buy the ingredients myself.

I like small portions, but it depends how much they cost.

I wouldn't pay full price for them. I liked the idea of trying some new recipes but found that after a few weeks the menu choices were very repetitive. The ingredients often weren't that fresh when they arrived so I cancelled after a month or so.

Just looked on hellofresh website and to be honest, there isn't much on there that I would eat. So I think I will give it a miss. The own missing I would eat. That's on offer is a roast chicken. And to be honest with you, I can go to the supermarket and buy a chicken and roast it. Why do I have to use this bit pointless if you ask me, but I only looked at it out of curiosity and I won't be using it.

This also puts me off

Like many meal delivery services, HelloFresh utilizes a recurring subscription model. If you forget to skip a week or log in to cancel by your weekly cutoff deadline, you will automatically be charged

Sounds like a gimik

One of my neighbours uses Hello Fresh regularly and is very happy with it.

If only they had a website where you could get answers to all of your questions.

You don't have to use it and you're right, it is a pointless gimmick that oversells the benefits of not having to buy whole packs of ingredients that in most cases
you can use the rest of for something else. Plus it generates a lot of wasteful packaging.

It's only really worth it if you're either cash rich and time poor so don't have the head space to think about food and grocery shopping or want to eat a very varied diet buy have no space to store leftover ingredients. But either way, it's an expensive way of buying the food they send you.

The more I read about this, the more I go off it. For tonight's dinner, I will have a baked jacket potato with cheese and salad and a yoghurt and no, hello, fresh for me. Can't be doing with it all.

Oh, it's you. At least there's no danger of Hello Fresh forcing afternoon tea on you Smile

sashh · 23/07/2026 11:17

I've used them.

My carer doesn't cook for himself so the recipes with pictures of each step have been useful for him.

Your loss is Hello Fresh's gain.
