I'm disabled and currently live in a first floor property, I have a doctors letter stating I am struggling to mobilise in my property, that I am unsafe on stairs (i have a steep set of stairs leading to my only exit) and I am classed as a fire risk because if there was to be a fire my only exit if my stairs are blocked would be to jump out of my living room window! I also have an OT report stating the same. Both the doctors letter and the ot report say I need to be on ground floor/level access not first floor.
A ground floor flat has been empty for five months (the person passed away and his family have abandoned all his furniture inside the flat so not void yet) so I contacted my housing officer to see if i could get a direct match to this flat.
Housing officer came out today to assess me for the direct match, then said he would fill in all of the paperwork when he got back to the office, then decided to do it there with me instead, he filled it all in, asked me if my rent was up to date etc, he then took all my evidence and said when he got back to the office later he would put a hold on the flat for me, he then said he would call with an update tomorrow.
I know lots can happen that means I might not get it but does it sound likely i might get this flat?
