When did you know you were pretty, intelligent or talented?

Just that really.

I knew I was smart when we started doing basic arithmetic at school. I flew through everything so quickly compared to everyone else.

It’s never really mattered to me. My mum told me to always try to improve, , but never to compare myself to anyone else. It must’ve gone in because that’s how I am.

I wouldn't say I am especially intelligent but I am brighter than I always gave myself credit for. I remember being in the early reader group at primary school but then I moved schools and everything was different, differnet reading books, maths books etc so I had to start back at the beginning and then developed the belief that I was the stupid one. Then we moved again when I began secondary school and it was the same again. It really dented my confidence and it wasn't until I got my degree and did better with very little effort(defence mechanism) than my friend who worked very hard that I realised I wasn't as thick as I imagined.

I’ve never thought I was pretty and have felt envious on occasions of those who are.

I realised I was a talented athlete in my 40s. Shame I didn’t realise earlier.

As for intelligence - I have a very spiky profile.
i’m outstanding at maths and art. I probably have something like learning difficulties in English Literature and similar subjects. I eventually realised the cause - autism and ADHD.

Not talented in anything, not remotely 'pretty' , not especially smart...bloody average really.

Yes. I am. It’s the one thing I’ve always been able to rely on and has paid off brilliantly with my career and earning capacity. Not a clue why it happened or where this odd genetic kink came from but I’m grateful as I’ve zero looks to trade off.
