Gross flies, please help!

I really like keeping my back door and windows open in this weather but the flies are horrendous, they just seem to keep coming in! Any recommendations on what to use to get rid of them?

Yes fly papers, gross but better than flies in the house.

We've been plagued by them more than normally this year. It wouldn't be so bad if they kept themselves to themselves, but they keep flying into our faces, after any kind of foodstuff (naturally) and constantly settling on the TV or laptop screen - they must like the light that they give off. You brush them away, but they just fly straight back and land again.

I know it seems cruel, but we've been considering a home version of one of those zappers that they have in chip shops - they're not too expensive from Amazon - where they're attracted by the light, fly in and... never fly out again.

Get a fly screen from Amazon. So easy to put up, they have a strip you peel off and then you stick to door frame. mesh that you walk through and then it closes with magnets. Cheap too

@ParsleySageToiletDuckAndBinBags urgh I know they're doing the same here and seem to be so many more than normal! I have a zapper 😅and I get them every so often but they are genuinely quite hard to get and just seem to pop up again!

I've been emptying our kitchen bin more than usual and keeping the kitchen extra clean. I think they come into the house regardless.

Natural remedies we use are lemon juice (buy some cheap from supermarket), sliced lemon and rosemary. Keeps them away whilst we cook.

It's the maggots in the food bin that is truly gross!

If there's an unusual amount of them there could be an animal carcass nearby. If it's only something small it should die down soon. Or as others say, a food bin or somewhere they can hatch.
