Following on from the 'how much was your wedding cost' ...which I couldn't comment on, I'm curious about holidays.

If you've had a dream holiday, how much was it and was it worth it? Most importantly...where!

Cuba was a dream for me and cost £4k which was a lot as I've spent less doing 6 weeks in SEA! However Cuba was amazing, we toured the west side inc Havana with multi stays before ending up in a luxury resort on one of the Cayos.

So far £23k

and yes would do it all again

Im planning south America which is looking spendy so you've made me feel better lol.

Recently returned from a bucket list holiday - 14 night yacht cruise around the Galapagos (18 nights away altogether) which cost £13k for one person. It was brilliant.

(You can do it cheaper. I wanted that version though.)

30k to Orlando for a month! Worth it yes....doing it again next year hopefully.

£8k for 3.5 weeks in Japan. Definitely worth it as I'd wanted to go there for about 10 years, still can't quite believe I actually made it!

Florida 2 weeks 20K, first time we actually had the money it got covid cancelled so it was 3 years late, we scrimped on nothing and it was amazing.

Florida.....just why!?

Japan was my dream destination.

I cant remember how much we spent. The biggest expense was flight, especially as it was both Easter and the Cherry blossom season.

However once we were there it was quite cheap which really suprised me. We booked air band b or hotels as we wrnt along and there was some really good ones, all were significantly cheaper than comparable places in the lake district or Yorkshire Dales. Food was inexpensive.
So, a dream holiday that excluding flights, cost less than two weeks in the south of France in peak season.

£12000 for 2 to New Zealand. With stops in Singapore, Sydney, Fiji and San Francisco. We were away for 6 weeks.

About £12k (between the 2 of us) for a month in New Zealand.

Big, one off trip, so we went all out, including helicopter trip to the glacier, whale watching trips, staying in hotels, car hire. Fortunate to have been able to afford it and felt it was well worth it, but realise how privileged we were.
Wonderful country - so much to see.

We went to Australia for a month. It must have cost tens of thousands but it was brilliant. Only regret is that my kids were so young (20 months and three) but that was when my DH had his sabbatical. We started in Perth (not impressed), then drove to Margaret River (loved it), flew to Cairns (great) then down to Sydney (my favourite), then to Berry (friends second home), back to Sydney…true trip of a lifetime!

Im unclear why you've mentioned Florida attached to my post?

Huge luxurious villa for 2 weeks close to Disney. Had 8 bedrooms, whole top floor games room and themed massive cinema room even though only 4 of us! First class flights return. 3 nights at Clearwater in a big house, luxury rental car, finished off back at Universal with premium hotel, extra days and vip at Epic. Twas brill!!

A few years ago to the rugby world cup in Japan, almost entirely airbnb that were booked well in advance, just me and my son who would have been three I think. We were there two weeks and it was just over £3k.

Did you think it was worth it?

My awful alcoholic ex took me (so it cost me almost zero) and I thought you could get the same elsewhere with wayyyyyy less travel/ inconvenience.
I also hated how they dealt with rubbish (ie dump it on other atolls)

Most expensive hol was NYC, Toronto and a trip to Nuagra. Wasn’t anything like what i read on here though cost wise and just standard flights and hotels. About 2k plus spends just before covid. Australia backpacking 20+ years ago again amazing!!

But every trip i really enjoy and appreciate as i rarely had holidays as a kid nevermind abroad, so always worth it! We do our own booking and planning for all our hols. I love doing the research.

Want to do Canada and Rockies etc for a big birthday in a few years. Probably guided. Aiming for around 5k and already saving as that’s a lot of money to me for a holiday!

First time u went to NYC a year or so after 9/11. We paid £400 each including flights for 3/4 nights. I’d never been anywhere like it!!( we also go free business class upgrades which blew our minds) Gave me the bug for exploring cities for sure. ( i was early 20s)

Crazy how much travel has gone up! But spent similar to you in 2019 but we also added in Toronto. for more money.

My dream holiday was Croatia. We got a great deal during one of the lockdowns (booked 18m in advance) and spent under £3k for 10 days for 4 of us (kids preschool/primary age which helps costs). We returned to Croatia this summer, cost a fair bit more, £6.5k ish for the 4 of us.

I realise I have tame tastes compared to many on this thread. Partly long haul travel doesn't work well for our family, and partly a £30k holiday isn't worth it for our family. I'd rather go away once or twice a year than save for years for one trip. However amazing, that is too much pressure for me!

yes it was definitely worth it!

We went to Vietnam for 2 weeks for £10k for the 4 of us. We flew premium economy, took an organised tour for 10 days and added 5* hotels at either end of the trip for a couple of days each. It was an absolute bucket list off the scale brilliant trip.

Just cannot imagine spending £30k in Orlando, Japan or New Zealand definitely but Orlando?

Now that sounds perfect!
