Caring for relative who has been in hospital and have put back out lifting microwave!
in spasm down one side and low back pain that shoots if I sniff or breath deeply 😞

need to be mobile to care for relative and have something can’t miss at work over next two days.

should I try to do back stretches on the floor or wait until acute pain passes?

taking ibuprofen and cocodamol.

any tips from back veterans out there appreciated please?

Honestly the way to treat it prob varies with what is actually wrong with it, so I'd be wary. I'd be tempted to give it a day or two of rest. I get confused on cold Vs heat. When/If you try stretches, go super easy, don't push past the pain. Light, regular movement. Maybe just walking around is enough. All guesses though, get it checked out if worried or neurological symptoms. No harm in getting checked

Edit: yeah probably don't sit around not moving for a day or two even if resting

Alternate heat and ice patches, gentle stretches might help but I’ve found they can come times make it worse. If you can afford it I’d recommend seeing a really good physio. My back does this often and if I can get in to see the physio it usually cuts the severity and the length of time it hangs around by quite a lot.
just be careful if you try to soldier on I’ve only done it once and made it so much worse.
your GP might be able to prescribe stronger pain relief and/or muscle relaxers which make a massive difference but I know many GPs are reluctant to prescribe things like diazepam now

I’ve previously had physio and he thought was a wonky SI joint.
presume I’ve flared that up?

such a crappy week and need to be able to help relative with care 😢

no neurological symptoms thank goodness!

will try some gentle stretches and see if can get in with physio if doesn’t clear, although referred relative yesterday and no appointments til end of August 😱
