For love nor money no one is responding and one man did and said he would quote me to put a new tap in that's all !

Am I being silly wanting it repaired ?

It depends on the tap. Replacement cartridges can be almost as much as new tap.

Look on Youtube at leaking taps and figure out why yours is leaking. Most common issue will be the washer. Learning to do these things yourself will save you so much time and money and you know it is done right if you do it yourself.

Youtube has so many helpful videos including how to replace a tap if that is what you need to do. It does require a few tools, you can borrow some if you don't have them. Or you can invest in some and no doubt they will come in handy in the future.

Do you need a plumber? It's probably too small a job. I'd use a handyman, probably having saved up a few odd jobs for him.

A lot of modern taps have ceramic washers so it’s a new cartridge ( if you can get one )
Not the old rubber washers
a new tap would more than likely be cheaper

Thanks everyone that's very useful ,I've heard of washers but not cartridges
It's a blanco tap in the old fashioned style

Any decent plumbers merchant should be able to help you. It may help to take the old cartridge with you, i got new cartridges for my somewhat cheaper taps from Screwfix.
