From bad to worse, to disastrous.

I posted on here last week when one of my front crowns broke off at the gum line, that was fixed by an emergency appointment the following day to reattach it.
A sigh of relief as I'm preparing for my mother's funeral this Thursday morning 23rd .
Last week I got a lot done, so much so that I gave myself a pat on the back and.a huge sigh of relief.
Woke up Sunday night into Monday morning with a very dry ticklish cough.
Monday felt very lethargic and not.myself at all.
Tuesday (today) it's fully out as a cold/viral infection. My last cold was winter 2022, the timing of this is just unbelievable.
Sore throat, dry ticklish cough.....no phlegm, no stuffy nose and my voice is going.

I've written and I'm due to deliver her eulogy, written from the heart and the honour of my life, but I'm now terrified I won't have a strong enough voice to deliver it.
I know I can pass it on to others to read, but can anyone suggest health hacks to get me into a position to stand up and deliver.
I'm on hot lem.sips, honey and gargling with salt water, I've not really used my voice at all today.
Help.

I’m sorry for your loss and your difficulties. Holland and Barrett sell Yogi Tea brand Throat Comfort Tea, which I find very good when I have a scratchy throat. They also sell raw Manuka honey which is medically proven to fight infections.

My throat is really bad this morning, just can't believe this has happened at the most inappropriate time. I'd never normally volunteer to write a eulogy , let alone say it in front of a packed church, but I just wanted to honour her legacy.

Oh, OP, this must feel so frustrating.

Honestly, my best tip is sleep. Sleep, sleep, sleep as much as you can today. Your body heals best when you're in deep rest – and with your mother's funeral tomorrow that might feel impossible, but it's the best way to let your body do its job.

So sorry for your loss – I hope tomorrow goes as smoothly as it can. And remember, whether or not you're the one to deliver the eulogy tomorrow, you'll honour her legacy just by being her daughter.

Can you ask if there is a microphone at the venue? Then there will be less projecting and you might be able to deliver it and everyone hear what you want to say about your mum.

Seconding the idea about the microphone

Also try Vocaleze or Vocalzone spray or lozenges. Does it feel dry? You need to lubricate it as much as possible to give a speech.

Normally for a sore throat, I would try Chloraseptic spray, but that’s about killing pain rather than being heard.

Those Vocal ones taste grim by the way, but I’m just thinking of it to get you heard in the eulogy

Thanks for your suggestions, definitely agree with wanting to lubricate my throat.
Overall my throat is better, the dry ticklish.cough has gone, but I do sound hoarse and I've done everything today to keep it going.

Salt water gargling, steam inhalation, hot honeyed drinks and it's better than when I woke.up.this morning but still not 100%

I just hasn't been my time...... everything that could have gone wrong has gone wrong .

Strepsils saved me last time I had a really bad sore throat, it was really bad and turned out to be covid.

Try Vocalzones as others have suggested. They helped me when I was due to sing Pie Jesu and got a horrid sore throat bug! Miracle workers. Taste vile mind.

As you know I was absolutely desperate to stand up and deliver the eulogy I'd written and came on here seeking advice which I did follow.
With the best will in the world, I knew on Wednesday night that despite all my efforts it wasn't going to happen. I'd given it my best shot, my voice was still horrendous, my throat was sore and I just felt awful.
I rang my niece who was delivering a eulogy on behalf of the grandchildren and before I'd even asked her, she volunteered to deliver mine.
I emailed it to her and on the day it was incredible hearing my words read out and delivered absolutely perfectly . She got a round of applause at the end as did her sister who delivered her eulogy on behalf of the grandchildren.
I couldn't have been happier, it worked out perfectly .
The whole day was a beautiful testament to my mother's long life and the legacy she left behind.
Perfect weather too.
Thanks again for all your help, my voice is still a work in progress, but after all the talking yesterday, I've taken a vow of silence for today.
