Where to donate a grandfather clock

We have a 20th century grandfather clock that we’d like to donate, perhaps to somewhere that could display it. I’ve emailed the National Trust but imagine that’s a long shot! Anyone know where would appreciate it?

I take it you have asked the grandfathers permission? He's going to be ok you giving away his gift is he?

Yea have one I inherited from my parents.

No-one want it.

Adult kids want modern, not be an antique shop.

I always wanted one as a child, they were literally my dream, together with a ship in bottle, a barometer, a rocking chair and silky chinese rugs.

Maybe ask the 20th Centenary Society? They might know of a grateful home. Or target any buildings open to the public near you if the right era.

I’d love it but have no space, that’s probably the problem these days.

If you don't want to sell it or already know it's not worth a lot of money but may have some historical interest, you could contact a museum in the town it was made in to see if they'd like it.

Have you tried any local schools, or churches? I donated some furniture to schools that they were able to use in offices.

I would ask art museums around the country interested in that sort of thing. The Victoria & Albert museum in London has a collection of clocks and watches from different centuries, I think they could be a good shout.
