Recommend me a new tablet (any brand) to replace broken ipad

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ which replaced my broken iPad. Had no problems with it, does all the stuff I used to do on my ipad.

Just bought this. It is excellent.

Seriously, just get an iPad. You’ll regret it if you don’t and end up buying an iPad in 3 months.

Samsung Galaxy is good. Check out BackMarket (backmarket.co.uk) - they do refurbished stuff and it’s really great quality and a good bit cheaper than buying new.

Why?

Try looking for an older iPad on Backmarket (usually comes with a 12 month warranty).

I am retired and we have plenty of computers and phones etc. but we’ve not replaced what were probably 1st or 2nd gen iPads or IPad minis. I recently bought a Kindle Scribe, which is great for reading magazines on (free) library Borrowbox and watching films/TV but so many apps aren’t available.

I guess it depends on what you need it for?

@Madcatsa Kindle is a different thing entirely; they don’t run Android and therefore don’t have a lot of apps (they’re designed more for reading than anything else, so that’s the focus).

OP, it sounds like you’re looking for a general tablet, so it’s going to be Android or iPad. I much prefer Android. My Mum (77 and not THAT tech savvy) had no issues going from iPad to Android.

It might be a daft qn, but has OP tried to get a quote to fix whatever is wrong with her iPad?

Ease of transfer of data/passwords, etc., quality control, customer service (inc. high street stores for repairs, advice, etc.), seamless integration with other apple devices, range of memory/power options, accessories that work consistently and over the long term, security, and it feels nice to use - responsive, good weight, looks attractive, choice of colours, covers, etc.

The long and short of it is that you can trust it. You can trust that you will get a good 3-4 years out of it with heavy daily use (I often use mine - a bog standard basic model with a Smart Keyboard - for work as it’s faster and more portable than my work laptop). Put the Kindle app on it and you can read your Kindle books. The basic model is around £429 - about £100 a year or less than 30p a day. In the grand scheme of things, that price is low enough per use to make it worthwhile.

If you are use to an iPad no others will compare , I’ve tried a few , always go back to my iPad .
